Your plugins hook in to the scanning ? (if that was the rigth word) maybe that is a bug that the following scan is getting to be of the wrong kind .

Could you try if Dynamic Playlist 2.9.3638 which I just released solves your issues ?
I've problem verifying it in my own setup because the LMS scanner crashes with segmentation faults with and without third party plugins as soon as I setup multiple music folders.

Make sure you don't have MusicIP or iTunes integration activated as at least MusicIP will break the LMS scanning of individual folders (at least in my setup).

If the new Dynamic Playlist version works, I'll make the same changes to Custom Skip, TrackStat, SQL Playlist and Custom Browse to make all of them work correctly, so make sure you only have License Manager and Dynamic Playlist installed when you verify if it works.

Hi there,

I thought I would have another try at 7.7 as it is close to release, but I have scanning issues. Before upgrading I was running the latest nightly of 7.62 and scanning was perfect. After loading 7.7rc6 I get the following

[Last Edit] Tried reboot the server, made no difference. Noticed I was using the latest nightly,not RC6. Tried changing, made no difference. Unless anyone has any ideas I am reinstalling 7.6.2. If this gets released there are going to be a lot of angry people...

It crashes with segmentation faults more or less every time when I've multiple music folders configured in my environment. I've tried with different folders and it's the same issue so I don't think it's related to the actual music files, especially since it works when doing a full rescan.

I've no third party plugins installed and I'm running the RC6 version 33614 using a svn checkout. However, the same problem also exists in 7.7 trunk.

Works perfectly with a single music folder but crashes with multiple music folders.

The scanner state is also remembered, so when the server is started after the crash it indicates that scanning is in progress even though it's obviously not doing anything (at least that how it feels). I can abort it manually and then perform a rescan (which will crash if it's a new/changed rescan).

Maybe it's something with Linux ?
I'm using a svn installation on Ubuntu with perl 5.8.8

Hopefully it's something with my environment that's causing this because else it will be a catastrophe if people start using multiple music folders in 7.7.0 release.

erland have a look at bug 17674 and see if it looks familiar to you, I have 2 music folders . That bug was something elsemto begin with, but has developed via 33624 to be very similar to what you describe here.
try this start LMS with --noimage --novideo

Can someone reopen bug 17639 against LMS7.7 .

The issues is not limited to third party plugins iTunes and MusicIP seems be involved to if one uses them.
Or any plugin that registers an importer.

I was not aware of how MIP and iTunes integration worked, when I set the bug as invalid :-/
So it's a very valid bug.

Thanks a lot guys! I did indeed see segfaults on my _mac_ which we've
never figured out why they happened sometimes. I'll see whether I'm seeing
the same issue there. I'll investigate your bug report today.

Try it without third party plugins to make sure they aren't causing your issues.

Never had such problems with a squeeze"whatever" as with 7.7.0 mediasomething.

Just after a minute or so, web dosn't answer, players can't connect.
Uninstalled all and deleted every folder, reinstalled - the same...

I just lost two hours time - I think I will go back to 7.6.2

(Windows 7 32bit, 7.7.0-33624 and also official release)
