    Question SqueezePlay on LAN

I have my SBS set up with port forwarding on my router so I can access it from my phone, etc. I have SqueezePlay installed on my PC at work and I can enter the WAN IP manually and it finds my library and works perfectly.

Now I had previously installed SqueezePlay on a couple of PC's in my house on the same LAN as the server. I used to be able to access the library with no trouble and play music using SqueezePlay on these machines. Now for some reason I cannot. However, if I choose a different player other than SqueezePlay (my Duet, Radio, etc.), it WILL see the library through those players and control them...

So basically, when trying to use SqueezePlay as the player, it does see/find the local library but it just won't connect. I have deleted the settings files and started from scratch as I have seen mentioned elsewhere on the forum. I just find it odd that it works perfectly via the internet but not via my LAN.

    I am running Server v7.6.1 / r33110 & WinXP SP3 on all machines in question. SqueezePlay/About states v7.5.1 r0.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

    Thanks!

I have this same issue with Squeezeplay. I found that after it "fails" to connect to my server I can at least select the Squeezeplay player from the webUI or Duet controller and play music to it. The Squeezeplay UI is useless though.

That's actually not too horrible a work-around, but I just tried it and the main WebUI does not see the player in the drop-down list, yet if I go into settings, it shows up under the player tab/drop-down list. What screen is your SqueezePlay on when you were able to select it in the WebUI?

most likely you have to considering installing squeezeplay 7.6.x if you are running 7.6.x server .
is not one avaible in the 7.6.2 beta ?

    Windows Firewall

I also could not get SqueezePlay to connect to my server at first as the Windows Firewall was blocking it. Windows Firewall automatically added the Jive SqueezePlay software to the inbound connections which was fine. Two SqueezeBox services were added to the Outbound as well. I removed those before the connection would work. I have not taken the time to troubleshoot why these automatically added outbound connections on the Windows Firewall service caused a problem but it works now.

Thanks for the tip, but the Windows Firewall service is disabled on all my machines.

...Speaking of the Windows Firewall Service, could this be something to do with other services that may be stopped/disabled?

I just updated to 7.7 (Server and SqueezePlay) and still cannot connect.

However one machine I didn't try previously on my LAN is running Win7 64-Bit. It now has SqueezePlay 7.7 installed. It connects to the server and works as expected.

    This is really odd...
