    Honestly, CPU performance is no longer an issue so "real" audio is completely viable, especially with the cost of storage plummeting.

    I wish articles like this would have a feedback section. While 3D spatial music encoding would be really impressive, the mainstream usually neglects compression as the reason why music these days often sound bad and conveniently picks on MP3 as the reason.

    I'd take a FLAC over MP3 any time but I'd also prefer a well mastered MP3 than crappy compressed source... I feel that until the mainstream truly understands the problem, we'll never really have better sound. Spatial encoding would just be as loud and lacking in dynamic range :-(

    Non-SSD prices are plummeting upwards! Prices more than doubled as a result of Thailand floods and someone told me this week there's a prediction it might take 3 years for the market to recover.
