That's great it works.
There is an "auto" file system type but the kernel MUST have been compiled with built in support for it as well as ext2/3 for it to work.
I've been using the same usb stick with ext3 for almost a year now without issue. At $10 for an 8GB stick I don't really worry about it. I just tar up the image once a month for an easy restore when it does eventually fail.
I do occasionally see 'recovering journal' in the logs with ext3 after a reboot, maybe 1 in 10 times. The filesystem would have been corrupt with ext2 but with ext3 it "replays" the journal changes and continues to boot.

Ralphy!
Please, please talk to Thomas about this subject and the kernel you are talking about. Most of us do have corruption problems with our plugs from turning off the wrong way or power outage stuff, so this would fix thoses issues and it would give people the choice of using ext2 or ext3 .
Ideally if after a power outage, and the dockstar auto restarts, it would be very nice to have it boot back into usb stick again. As it is , it corrupts.Last edited by richman; 2011-10-10 at 10:18.

Thanks ralphy! I tried
"apt-get install mplayer-nogui"
but it won't find it, it says:
"E: Package 'mplayer-nogui' has no installation candidate"
how can I make my Squeezeplug install it? Or shall I use "mplayer" instead, but it has 61.5 MB ?!Last edited by wenkman; 2011-10-11 at 13:25.

Ralphy!
I started a new thread just for ext2 to ext3 conversion. I hope you visit it and share how to do it. Because I did try your uboot command but I can't get my dockstar to work anymore. And I lost rescue system on dockstar too. So it's bricked. I'm thinking if you make an image of a working ext3 you have, and post it or email me it, I can load it on and get that dockstar to work again. Or at least change back to ext2 , to get rescue partition working again. I do get IP address on dockstar on nand, but can't ssh in.
Reply to this message in the ext2 to ext3 thread, so we get a thread just for this issue. Thanks bro

WLAN Nano USB Stick
I now found a fantastic tiny nano WIFI USB Stick which is perfect for the Dockstar! (see attached image)
It's the LogiLink WL0084A, which is the same as the EDIMAX EW-7811Un, I guess. It supports WLAN n with up to 150 Mbps and it's so very tiny! But unfortunately it won't work with the SqueezePlug WLAN installation setup yet.
I have instructions for the linux installation, but "make" won't work on my SqueezePlug?! Does anyone have the linux skills to tell me how to install this driver?
The linux driver is right here:

or alternatively for the logilink
