I went back to 7.5.6 and haven't even bothered checking for an update since then, I had given up all hope of Logitech producing a reliable piece of software.
In a sad way it's comforting that even the latest version has the same issues; at least it means that my apathy was justified.

Well, I can only report my own experience, but I have two different libraries I scan with SbS/LMS, going back to 7.x, including 7.5.x, and currently using 7.7.2. One library is about 225,000 tracks, mostly mp3 some m4a. The other library is about 70,000 mostly FLAC. Most tracks have artwork (FLAC is cover.jpg in directory, mp3/m4a is embedded art). I have no trouble with scans on either a vortexbox machine (linux based) or on two different WIN 7 (64) machines.
edit: art is anywhere from 150x150 up to 1000x1000 in some cases. All jpgs. I'm pretty meticulous about my tags. mp3 files have only ID3v2.3 tags (no APE, no duplicate ID3v1, etc.), FLAC and m4a have native tags.Last edited by garym; 2012-06-18 at 08:36.

Help
How did you get an older version installed? I'm running Ubuntu Server 8.04 and it's a major pain trying to get this working. I upgraded and all manner of weirdness has ensued. I've changed my sources.list from stable to unstable and back. Originally, it just stopped scanning my whole directory. Now, I'm on 7.8.0 and it stops scanning after 1 track. I just want to get back to something that works. Do you have a link to 7.5.6 for Linux (Ubuntu)? Thanks.

I was having a devil of a time scanning my 47K song library. I tried all the versions suggested with little luck. So, I enabled the debug for the logging for all the scanning options. I figured out I had a number of bad MP3 files. Some had bad tags some just not proper files. Most of them were really old files from the late 90's I had. In the logs I would discover the last song it attempted to scan and either move it or delete it all together. Took about 3 weeks, some trial and error, but was finally able to do a successful scan.

There are some bugs when installing never versions on ubuntu/Debian some have has 2 startup scripts then practically running 2 instances, one started by the new script and one by the old ( search forum ) .
Another gotcha is that you can't "sudo apt purge "the old version SBS after installing the new version LMS ii must be done before installing LMS .
No idea if it keeps it user or what, I'm running the rpm build .
I have no scanner issues with 36000 files flac/mp3 ? With 7.8 there was some in 7.6.x beta and 7.7.x beta .
I turn of all video and photo functionality in the startup options , so I don't scan videos or photos--------------------------------------------------------------------
