Using iTunes libraries in Squeezebox devices ?

    Hi

My GF has a load of (crap) music in iTunes format.

I need to add it to my library of mp3's.

Ideally I would like a way of excluding it sometimes from the Random play playlist in SS - I'm assuming I can just genre tag it as "iTunes" & deselect this from the genre list in Random playlist section (Duet controller) ? Would this work if tracks have other genre tags already ?

Last time I just moved the itunes folder which contains the audio files in a folder in my music library (called "GF's stuff"). This played OK but no album art (which was actually quite useful as it flagged up her stuff when playing as all my stuff has art). Is there a "proper" way of including iTunes music for Squeezebox players ?

I notice an "Use iTunes" box in SS settings - what does this do ?

    thanks

That's all I can think of too, but not sure about multiple genre tags; all mine are single-tagged.

I use this method most of the year, leaving "Christmas" genre unselected until the time is right.

the use iTunes option in squeezebox allows you to add an itunes library into SB, including playlists, etc. You can exclude songs that are not checked in iTunes if you want.
And, the nice thing I like is that you can point it to an itunes library that is separate from your SB root library folder. Thats a gripe I have with SB, is that they only allow for 1 music folder. I have mine spread in different folders. I have a folder of flacs, mostly live bootlegs I've downloaded over the years. I import that folder, then use itunes to import my itunes MP3s. Then I have other folders I don't want imported.
You might be able to use MultiLibrary plugin to separate your girlfriends library from yours. I think they have to live in different folders, not sure.
