Btw, should we be using this thread to report issues with subsequent beta builds... say today's build r33414 or is this thread exclusive for this rc1 build. (Assuming LMS 7.7 rc1 is currently frozen at build r33410).
The web UI issue should be fixed in r33419

There will still be nightly builds with fixes on top of RC1. And there
will be another RC before release.

Figured I would give 7.7 a try, as I know it;'s getting close to a release. It's only been running for about 15 min so far, but at the moment it seems to be working and talking to my various players.

I will be sure to report back if anything blows up, keep up the good work...
I tried to install the LMS 7.7rc1 on an OpenSuSe 11.4 machine using the RPM package. Unfortunately LMS did not start. It gave the error message that the CPAN module Media::Scan: was there but was not the neecded version.
I know I can update the CPAN modules myself (I did not have the time to sort that out) but generally I would have expected that the RPM package would have contained the needed pre-reqs. Or are my expectations too high?
just tried the latest nightly on my WHS (r33429) and got the error "This application failed to start because MSVCR100.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem.". After a bit of googling I downloaded the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Re-distributable Package and that fixed it.
Thought you might like to know.

Before i partake in 7.7 rc, I want to confirm some things.
Before i partake in this next bugfest I want to confirm some things.
Due to historical reasons my media directories are a bit off (or downright stupid)
For music i have: /media/music
This continues in /media/music/music2 wich is another drive really.
For Playlist i have: /media/music/Playlists
For photos and video wich I don't have on the server yet, the "music2" drive has most space.
It will be
/media/music/photos
/media/music/music2/video
Even I can see that this a little bonkers and admittedly not so ingenious. but a lot of other stuff would have to move around and playlist get fixed if I do a saner structure.
Now as you can all see for example playlist is a sub directory of music .
And photos and video will be too
My Questions is:
Is the scanner smart enough to tangle this out so that the music scan for example does not search for music in playlist directory ?
or my planned photo or video directories .
Do I dare to install 7.7 on this
Is it ready to see this ungodly mess ?
I have hopes that it will, it is a separate scanner for music and other media right ? so it might go just fine

Any idea why it doesn't scan any of my MythTV video files ?
I get messages like these for each file in the log:
stat error on file /mnt/video_smb/The Big Bang Theory - 2011-09-11, 10-25 PM - Del 17 säsong 4.mpg, errno=75
The files are on a SMB read-only mounted network drive.
I assume LMS doesn't need write access to the video files ?
Any one have scanning times for their photos? I am currently scanning mine and it seems to be taking an age. According to image viewer I have 11980 photos scanned so far and it's been running 2:15 already.
By the way, in server settings I get the following:
Scanning new media files: \\TheMACServer\Photos (0) Running 02:17:54
It would be nice to get a progress on the file count there (rather than having to look in image viewer). I guess this is a bug
[Edit] had more problems with scanning and rebooted the server, much better afterwards. The above anomaly is now gone.Looks like picture scanning is a lot quicker
