    SqueezePlay on 64bit Win7

    Hello,

First of all, sorry if this has been answered. I've found some threads related to this but no clear resolution. Hence this new post.

I am trying to make SqueezePlay work on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and it's causing me a little trouble.

When I try to connect to either my library or MSB.com SqueezePlay shows me the "Connecting to <whatever im trying to connect to>" message for a while and then tells me that it cannot connect. However, the player shows the name of my library when it tries to connect and it also picks up the new name if I change it. I can also see the player in both MSB.com and in the web interface for my library. I can even control the player and play music through SqueezePlay from the library if I start it from the library web interface.

In short: The player "is working" but I cannot choose libraries or music and start and stop from the player itself.

I have tried adding my library as a remote library, launching SqueezePlay as Administrator and quite a few other things; nothing works.

    Ideas?

hmmm, not sure, but I can report that I'm using SqueezePlay on a win7 (64) enterprise machine and I didn't have to do anything special to make it work as either a player or as a controller for other players in my LAN. And I use it to choose different music libraries as well. So it *can* do all these things, so it is worth pursuing a solution....

I too run it on 64 bit Windows 7 (Professional) without any problems. Is the user account you're using it with an administrator? I don't think it matters but it'd be good to know.

Yeah, the user is administrator on Windows 7. I think the issue lies with Squeezeplay not being able to access a file or something because it is communicating with the library :/

I run on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and it works fine. You might right click on the icon then select Properties/Security and look at the permissions settings. You might need to adjust them. When I do that allow is checked for all except special at the bottom

    Just a thought:

Is SqueezePlay controlling itself, is really sounds as if it's controlling another player on your network?

    Choose Player > SqueezePlay.

Yeah it is controlling itself; in fact, it is that only player I can see from the settings in SqueezePlay. Good thought though.

Oh, and I've tried messing with security settings too but it just won't work. I haven't given up yet hehe.

It looks very much like the sort of problem mentioned in this thread. I just can't make any of the solutions in it work for me. http://www.mail-archive.com/discuss@...msg128264.html

After doing some more fiddling with SP I've noticed that it does also register itself on MSB.com (if I delete the player from there and launch SP again it reappears on MSB.com). I cannot connect to MSB.com from the player though.

I have tried disabling firewalls as well.

I'm not sure it's an x64 issue. I had the same problem a few months back and I'm 90% sure it was on my 32-bit HTPC. It eventually went away. Unfortunately I never worked out why. Are you sure your version of Squeezeplay matches the version of SBS?

Not sure that matters. I use SB 7.6 and I'm controlling players on both 7.5.4 SbS and 7.6.1 SbS.
