    dreaded "invalid mysqueezebox.com username or password" message

    This is a crosspost from http://forums.logitech.com/t5/MySque...ot/td-p/683080

    Just putting it here to to get more eyes, it's somewhat frustrating ):

    ----

    I am running squeezebox server 7.5.4 -r32171, on FreeBSD

    The server software runs, I can connect with my squeezebox touch, etc. but when I use the web interface to connect my server to my mysqueezebox.com account, it fails with the message "Invalid mysqueezebox.com username or password"

    I have seen many threads about similar issues, but they all seem to be related to DNS issues for NAS devices, not applicable to me.

    * My FreeBSD server can ping mysqueezebox.com just fine
    * I can log on to www.mysqueezebox.com just fine

    The only problem is when I try to enter my credentials from the web interface of squeezeboxserver.

    I am positive that I am not making a typo (:

    Also, I do not see any messages related to this in my log files...

    Any advice?

    Thanks
    -John

    in the past I had some similar issues. Been a couple years, but I recall rebooting my router and/or stopping and restarting SbS solved the issue for me. I think it did have to do with some DNS issues.... (SbS trying to talk to mysb.com before the computer had actually made a good internet connection). So even though later, other things on the computer worked just fine, SbS acted as if it had not made the connection. I'd start with simply stop/restart of SbS after everything is up and running and see if that helps.

    Hi garym,

    I took your advice and restarted the server, but no joy ):

    I turned up the logging and got this when the failure occurs:

    when you look at the SbS > Settings > MySB tab, and hit apply, do you see the error message that sometimes pops up. Look very, very close as it is in tiny letters (can't recall whether top or bottom of that page, but very small and almost hidden).

    Another thought is to reinstall SbS. I know, I know, pain and all, but years ago that solved a similar problem with mysb.com connection (I too could log in on the web, etc, it was just my SbS not connecting somehow). A reinstall should save your settings....

    Try connecting the player to MySB.com by itself (not the web UI). Might need to reboot the player.
    Touch > Settings > Advanced > Networking > Switch to MySB

    @garym:

    Just to be clear on the steps I took:
    * navigate to settings > mySB tab
    * click the "apply" button (without entering any information)

    I don't see any tiny error message. I just see "Changes have been saved"

    If I do the same steps, but entering my login information as well, I just get the same old "Invalid mysqueezebox.com username or password" message. No tiny text (not that I know what to look for, but I sure don't see anything, even after zooming in some)

    @toby10:

    I have successfully connected my Touch directly to mysqueezebox.com - I use the pandora plugin, for example, which works fine.

    In fact, the whole reason I went down this path is because every time I switch between my local server and the mysqueezebox.com one it wants to update the player firmware, so I am trying to get everything working on my local server.
    But in order to use the pandora plugin on my local server, I need to get my local server connecting to mysqueezebox.com ... which I find ironic, but I think it is the proper procedure.

    Everything about the player seems hunky-dory w/regard to mysqueezebox.com.

    yep, that's what I'm talking about. So when you reenter your mysb.com credentials you get a message that this failed. That is the problem I had eons ago, but you've already tried what worked for me (reinstall of SbS and/or stop/restart SbS).

    Ok, that's good. At least you know the issue is the NAS itself and not your network or ISP. That's why I was asking if the player itself could connect to MySB.
    Where the problem lies in the NAS I have no idea, never used one myself.

    @toby10:

    Well, it's not really a NAS - it's a FreeBSD box. Just a good ol'fashioned UNIX system.

    I'm starting to believe there's something wrong with my account on the mysqueezebox.com side, since I tried directly sending my credentials to the server through the web API, and still no joy. Yet it works from my browser...

    Is there any way to get in contact with the devs, other than through forums?

    I find it highly unlikely there is an issue with your account on the MySB servers if your player can connect to MySB as expected.
    You can always send your MySB login info and your player model & MAC address to support, but I'll bet they say it is fine on their end.

    I'd first investigate your Unix box. Have you tried asking for diagnostic help in the Third Party forum on here? That's where all the NAS/Unix/Linux gurus hang out.
    I'll bet a port or IP is being blocked or is already in use on your box by another service.
    Is there any other program/service running on that box that may be using the ports & IP's SBS server needs?
