I myself wasted 2 hours of my life on this conundrum. You are doing everything right, just press the only button on the reciever before you start. The green-lighted button with the icon of a network, it should be pressed down until it blinks in red, then go ahead with the search for player.

For what it's worth, I was having the same problem after changing my wireless router. Was tearing my hair out to try and get the Squeezebox Duet connected again.
The trick is: you have to do exactly this, in the this order.
1. Unplug receiver.
2. Turn off controller (press and hold home button)
3. Plug in receiver.
4. Press and hold front button on receiver until it flashes red.
5. Turn on controller (press home button once)
6. Factory reset controller by going to Settings > Advanced > Restore Factory Settings
7. When factory reset has been completed, connect to your wireless network. Player will (probably) be found, and the front LED should end up solid white.
I followed lots of advice in this thread, but it turns out that I wasn't doing it in the correct order!!!

That will work, but you shouldn't usually have to factory reset your Controller unless your wireless network has a different SSID, encryption method or password.
I added a second wireless access point to my network several months ago and all the Controllers connected to it seamlessly.
It is the Receiver that you need to factory reset to get it to connect to a different network though, or if it fails to DHCP properly as boot-up. In this case you press and hold the front button for 10 seconds, so you'll get a fast-flashing red light and then a slow-flashing red light.
At this point you can press and hold the left arrow on the Controller and you should get the 'Choose player' option appear and after a few seconds the Receiver you've just reset will appear, probably with its factory default name. Then select it, choose your connection method and it'll set itself up. Way less hassle than factory resetting the Controller and having to enter a wireless password again.

How to get Controller to find players
If you've changed your WiFi password or have a new wireless router, the Duet Controller may struggle to find your players.
Even with a return to factory settings or clean reboot (holding down the + key during startup), it doesn't fix the issue. Yes, your remote is able to login to the wireless network, but when it comes to the step of finding players, the screen cycles endlessly and can't find one.
The problem, it turns out, is that the remote isn't finding your music server. And you need to be connected to the music server to tell you what players are available.
When you can't find players, you can check this for yourself: Go to Settings/Advanced/Server Info. The Logitech Media Server is "unknown."
So, to fix the "find players" issue, you need to force the hand of the system to find the library on your music server.
To do this:
1. Settings/Advanced/Networking/Remote Libraries
2. Add the IP address of the server housing your remote library (Set up this computer to be a fixed IP address)
3. Turn the remote off, then on
4. The remote should be able to now find your players.

sounds like my issue
However, after entering my IP address, the system still can't find the two players I have. It still is scanning endlessly for players.
Things used to work completely fine, but it's been all downhill for the last couple months. For the last month or so, I'd find my library fine after computer startup, but after 1 or 2 times switching to another music folder, it would get all "hung up", i.e. can't find library, and the wifi icon would turn the the dreaded orange. For a while, I figured that if I did a hard close of the Squeeze and Logitech apps (using Task Manager), I could then get things working again, after aborting a lengthy re-scan.
Now, nothing!
I've uninstalled and reinstalled teh LMS software, re-booted, re-set factory settings... everything I can think of. The above post seems to describe my issue to a T, but no success.
I run everything to my 2 players, one Duet Squeezebox, and one Transporter, wirelessly. Signal is plenty strong.
I am very frustrated!

Have you checked your network for dublicate ip adresses ????
If so and still not working I would do a factory reset of BOTH router and players.
Alternate borrow another router and see if this is the problem.Callesoroe

I feel like I'm sunk
I just went completely offline for a couple hours by hiting the reset button on my router, and then had to figure out how to restore. Luckily I got the internet back.
Now, it's just all screwed up. Nothing is connecting to anything. (The exception seems to be squeeze network, so I do get radio, which I rarely wish to listen to.) Just last week I uninstalled the entire works from my computer and reinstalled. I guess I'm back there again. I hope I don't have to re-learn burning CDs.
I just don't have the time to be wasting entire days to listen to music.
I'll report back if/when I get up and running. Thanks anyhow.

Sorry to hear this. I can only report that it *shouldn't* be this way. I always completely turn off power (via powerstrip) to my complete system at my weekend place (so everything is off: router, vortexbox server, players, etc.). Once I restore power by flipping a switch and push a single button on my vortexbox server to start it, I'm automatically back in business within maybe 3 or 4 minutes at most without any additional intervention from me. And the TOUCH, BOOM, RADIO, and Controller all remember prior settings (what was synched, etc.). I do use fixed IP addresses for all the players, Vortexbox, and Controller, but this was true before I changed to fixed IP addresses.
Perhaps setting up your Duet Receivers and Controller with fixed IP addresses would be better in your case (true fixed, not simply reserved IP addresses within router).Last edited by garym; 2013-02-27 at 13:30.

Yeah, don't do that.

Seldom does resetting the router back to factory settings (wiping out all changes and settings you made) solve issues like you are experiencing. Especially if you are just going to implement the same changes again. Something isn't right with your network setup/configuration, but fixing it via proper setup is better than wiping out everything. I've been using a WiFi router since 2007, now with a dozen networked devices (including four SB players) and I've only ever needed to use the routers reset button once and only for the purpose of loading custom firmware.

First of all, let me say that I'm an idiot for pressing that darn button without thinking more about it! I was rather depressed (with a touch of the flu, to boot), so please excuse my fatalistic post.
Now, some good news. I went and did a complete uninstall of Everything Logitech from my computer, and reinstalled, did a fresh full scan (which took a few hours), etc. I'm back in business!
This is all as of 30 minutes ago, so I'm not declaring victory, yet, but I'm also not thinking about burning CDs! As said, I did this same routine a month or two ago, but it seems to be responding a lot better. Both the Duet and the Transponder are operating fine, and (so far) I'm switching between tracks, and even hard drives, seemlessly, just like it used to work. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
I'll post if I run into future issues. Hopefully not soon! Thanks everyone.
