    Analogue output broken

    Hi

I've broken the analogue output connector on the squeezebox, its bent and snapped after twisting the cable into it (won't make that mistake again).

I've obviously opened it up and had a look at soldering it back but its bent and twisted so I think I'm going to need to replace the connector.

What are these called (the red and white connectors) and how easy should this be to replace? How do I remove the current one as its well soldered on?

Sorry to hear about that. They're typically called RCA connectors, or sometimes "phono" connectors. They should be easy to find, but I've no idea how difficult removal/replacement is. Which model SB? The Touch is reportedly tricky to put back together correctly after opening the case, whereas the SB2 is fairly easy.

Its the sb3 which is nice and easy to put back together, but the broken connector looks well soldered on.

You will need to unsolder the old connector using some solder wick or a solder sucker and solder in a new one. Pretty easy to do by anyone with basic soldering skills. The connectors are longer than usual so you may need to measure the length of them before you buy some. I think there is a post on here somewhere where someone was finding it hard to find the right length so if you have trouble getting the right connectors PM me your address and I can post some to you FOC.
