    Announce: Moose 0.76 Windows SqueezeboxClient

Ok, Moose 0.76 is now up in the usual places and also down here:
    http://tinyurl.com/3qzzg6u

    Numerous fixes and new toys

Scanning - SQLite now has 2 copy locally options, Before Scanning and
Before Simple Checks. Copy Locally Before Scanning makes sense to
always have ticked. Copy Locally Before Simple Checks probably makes
sense not to have ticked. A simple check is something like checking if
the server database is newer. Having this on can slow
library opening times down a bit, but may be necessary if there are problems.

Scanning - Favour Track's PrimaryArtist if present. The server
database sometimes associates a track with a primary artist. If this
is the case, scanning will be much quicker as Moose doesnt have to
scan all the artists for one which matches the track.

Scanning - Group NoAlbum Tracks In Various Artists. Previously Moose
has always grouped together tracks that dont have an album tag into 1
single NoAlbum entry and listed it under Various Artists. Unticking
this option splits this uber-album into lots of smaller albums and
files them with their associated artist. If you miss the old way of
working, tick this option. It can be handy for tidying up tags.

Library - Minor tweak to the library search results. If a search
renders no artist matches, then the album list entries get their
artists included in the search. So.. If you typed "Queen magic"
before, you'd probably get no matches in either the artist or album
lists as the item has to include all the words. With the new system,
the artist list would still be empty, but the albums list would match
Queen's A Kind Of Magic, and any other Queen Magic albums. The reason
it only does it when not matching artists is to avoid swamping the
albums list when just typing "Queen". If you want all the Queen
albums, you have to click on the artist after the search. etc..

Draw Quality sliders - There are now two in the options window. The
one in the Library tab controls the quality of thumbnail rendering in
all the library windows, including the cover chooser. The one in the
Now Playing tab controls the quality of the Now Playing and Toast
windows. Depending on your system, it's best to set the library one to
low-quality and the now playing to high-quality.

ReplayGain - 2 new columns added to the Now Playing playlist grid.
Turn the columns on/off via the right-click menu on the column
    headers.

Tune In URL - Finally got round to adding a way of tuning into streams
without having to resort the the web ui. The new feature's located in
the "Control->Tune In URL.." menu below RandomMix.

    Enjoy,

    Thumbs up

Great work again and the artwork slider is very helpful on slower machines!
Would it be possible to add an option to set the start behaviour? It would be nice to start moose always in the cover chooser mode without explicit choosing it each time.

    Thanks and regards
    Stefan

    Hi,
Would it be possible for a track to have a right-click option: "Save to playlist" in the Now Playing tab?

With the option to select the playlist you want to save the current track to?

As it works in Spotify for example

    Thanks for a great software!

    Moose and SQLite WAL

Now that the latest 7.6.1 betas feature SQLite WAL, I'm guessing that's why Moose will no longer scan the Squeezeserver database? (comes up with error message "The old SQLiteDB scanning code has been removed. If you are using Slimserver 6.5 or earlier, please use version 7.4 of Moose"). Or would an earlier version of Moose really work with this?

    (Running Moose 0.76 on Windows 7 64-bit, Squeezeserver 7.6.1 - r33073, Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.34_01 (sqlite 3.7.7.1))

Moose 0.76 'should' work fine with WAL databases.. (at least I did a
quick test last night and it seemed ok)

Note that on 7.6.1 the database is now called library.db, not
squeezebox.db. If you've got an old squeezebox.db sitting next to a
new library.db that could cause issues..

The one thing that does seem to cause problems is the auto-writing of
the sqlite dll to the thumbs folder. I'll look into this and hopefully
have a fix shortly. This sqlite dll also needs the VS2010 runtimes
installing, as detailed on the moose homepage.

But, yes, Moose'll be fine with WAL.. In fact scanning should be much
more reliable with WAL than without.

Thanks for this very prompt response - you had it correct: I was still pointing Moose to the old "squeezebox.db" instead of the new "library.db". All is back and working fine again.

Does Moose no longer work across a Network? My Squeezebox Server is on my WHS box and I can't scan the database from a different computer.
