7.5.X was all working fine with SSOTS 4.12 - decided to try for 7.6.1
Hardware Setup:
Duet
QNAP 209
Virgin Media netgear modem
Controller: 7.6.0 r9464
Software:
Squeezeserver:
Version: 7.6.1 - r33004 @ Sun Aug 7 03:13:23 MDT 2011
Hostname: NASAD0C25
Server IP Address: 192.168.0.6
Server HTTP Port Number: 9001
Operating system: Linux - EN - utf8
Platform Architecture: armv5tel-linux
Perl Version: 5.10.0 - armv5tel-linux-thread-multi
Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.31 (sqlite 3.7.2)
Uninstalled SSOTS completely and re-installed from:
ssods-4.12-arm.tar.gz based in information at oinkzwurgl.org/ssods
before installing 7.6.1 - r33004
Managed to get this combination working - to a certain extent - hence post.
Needed to install the following perl modules at later versions based on this thread: forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77923&page=2
Audio::Scan
EV
DBI
Scan of music works fine and fast.
Squeeze Server:
Can play a flac file through my receiver
Cannot setup mysqueezebox.com - invalid username and password - which is correct when entered on website.
Controller - factory reset and re-setup:
Scanning for Players during setup - found none.
Cannot play internet radio - can't connect to mysqueezebox.com
Cannot play a flac file to my receiver
My Music menu option - tells me to download Squeezebox Server software
and make sure it is installed and running - I have and it is.
Server Info
mysqueezebox.com registration: Registered
Squeezebox Server: Not connected
TCP port 3483: Not connected
TCP port 9000: Not connected
My web connection to squeezebox server is on port 9001.
I am not interested in internet radio and have no artwork.
Only interested in playing my collection of flac and mp3 files.
Tried combinations of re-boots of all hardware in various configurations without any joy.
I seem to recall some posts (deep in here I think forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69986), that suggested that 209's were now no longer supported - I assume that is just SSOTS - is that the case?
But at the end of the day I see SSOTS as just an environment in which to run squeezeserver - so if that is kept up to date with what is needed it should work - perhaps?
Am I flogging a dead horse, or am I close to getting this working?
If not its back to 7.5.X, but thought this info may be useful to others.
Cheers,
Stu

QNAP 209 SSOTS 4.12 & SS 7.6.1 close to working...

The 209 isn't supported anymore by QNAP, but the main reason why flipflip stopped supporting the "oldarm" architecture was because it was too much time consuming (given he compiled all the required Perl modules on the NAS itself).
That being said, there's nothing preventing you to get the whole thing working if you're brave enough to recompile all the required modules.
I read flipflip preferred avoiding cross compilation, but that's the way I'd try getting it to work.

Stu (or anybody else using a x09),
Have you already upgraded your 209 to FW 3.3.1?
If so, could you please tell me which Linux kernel version it's using now (the "uname -a" command launched in a shell will tell you)?
Since flipflip doesn't seem to actively maintain SSODS any more and I'd like to get rid of this annoying bug, I'm considering refreshing SSODS a bit for my x86 NAS.
And as I don't want to compile the whole stuff on my own NAS, I'd build it on another machine, and may also provide builds for ARM machines, "oldarm" included, if I have enough information to set up a functional cross-compiler for these.

I would be very interested in those rebuild packages.

And mine is:
Linux NASAD0C25 2.6.12.6-arm1 #11 Tue Jun 24 18:02:34 CST 2008 armv5tejl unknown
Same as Teun. Am cautious about upgrading the firmware so it has stayed the same since it was bought.
sebp - I went back to the last working version in the end, am contemplating doing the compilation but need to find the time, and will power to do it, even though it may be an interesting exercise.

Actually I think it is more accurate to say
From ssots > tools > system information
Hard-/Firmware : QNAP TurboStation TS-209 / 2.1.0 build 0624T
but definitely not latest

Hey guys,
It's been a while, wasn't really straightforward, but I may have finally been able to cross-compile something working, based on Squeezebox Server 7.6.2-r33593 (I couldn't get all LMS dependencies to compile, before you ask.)
At the moment, we could get - with JG Naum from the forums, who has tried running it tonight on his TS-209 w/ FW 3.1.0 build 0708T - as far as getting to the web interface.
The whole thing lives next to SSODS, so won't break it if you dare to help us beta test it.
Wanna join the party?

Hi Heiner,
Great.
As long as you're able to connect as "root" to your DS-207+, and you're able to copy/paste some commands to the terminal emulator and copy/paste their output back here or in a mail, you have all the required skills to help us.
1. Download this tarball
2. Copy it to some share on your DS (say the "public" share)
3. Use a telnet or SSH client to log in as root to your DS [or as "admin" for you all QNAP users]
4. 'cd' to the NAS' directory holding the tarball (say /volume1/public): [/share/Public on QNAP]
5. Extract the tarball here (important: extract it from the NAS shell, not from another system!):Code:cd /volume1/public
6. 'cd' to the lms4jg/sbin directoryCode:tar zxf lms4jg-20111111.tar.gz
7. Execute the install.sh script found there:Code:cd lms4jg/sbin
This script will try to create a 'lms4jg' user and group on your NAS, update permissions on the extracted archive directory to allow this user to write to the SBS directory, and create a symbolic link /opt/lms4jg pointing to this directory.Code:./install.sh
8. Make sure you've stopped your actual SBS now
9. Try starting SBS as the lms4jg user (with some additional debugging information to help diagnose why it crashed, in case it would):
10. If it hasn't crashed at this point, you should be able to open the web interface and try using the serverCode:/opt/lms4jg/squeezeboxserver-7.6.2-33593/slimserver.pl --user lms4jg --group lms4jg --d_startup
Please note that this release:
- hasn't been tested on a Synology NAS yet: may work, may not
- doesn't include the external binaries yet: no transcoding allowed ATM
- doesn't include any initialization script yet: the server can only be launched from the telnet/SSH session at the time being
I'll try working on the additional binaries and init scripts ASAP, so that we can get something more usable.
As an update, JG Naum has just told me that he had successfully scanned his library (45 minutes vs 90 on 7.5), had been able to play some music on his Transporter, and was in the process of testing some plugins.
So, as long as his TS-209 is concerned, it looks fine.
Sébastien
Edit - The install.sh script shipping with the 20111110 tarball was buggy. The one coming within the 20111111 tarball should work better (it shouldn't hurt running it multiple times)Last edited by sebp; 2011-11-10 at 18:03. Reason: Upgraded tarball to 20111111

beta testing - question
Hi Sebp;
I downloaded and went up to the './install.sh' part.
Some questions, though, before I continue:
1) Does it change anything on the DS, i.e. affecting my SSODS based SS or any other stuff outside the /volume1/public/lms4jg/ directory?
2) If I don't like what it's doing: How do I uninstall?
