I can definitively hear a difference. First impression is background a bit quieter, a bit more air in the treble. A keeper! Thanks!

I'll keep listening but my initial impressions today are quite positive. I, too, think it's a keeper.

This tweak is all good for me, too, removing another layer. Great stuff!

Tip:
If you feel the sound is a bit too clear for your system just back down on the "SPDIF" value a bit.
Enjoy!!

Again, thank you so much for this. I believe the kind gentleperson, Castalla, correctly answered several of my questions but there are still a couple items I'm unclear about (be gentle...as I said I'm a new ;>):
I've got Soundcheck's mods installed and so the WLAN is already disabled. Do I also need to go in and comment out the lines having to do with Samba? If so, how does one "comment out" something?? If I have to go back in and comment this out, do I also need to reinstall those previously installed 5 lines of code?
Finally, I have the buffer size set (via Soundcheck's mod) to 4000 because I was getting crackle at 3600. How much, if any, does this adversely affect your mods?Rg

Hi rgro,
If you type ifconfig in a Console window you should only get etho and lo in the returning window.
If wlan shows up then you need to put the # mark in front of the lines that I have shown on my site. The # mark is called commenting out. This means that the software does not use the command on that line.
Commenting out Samba is another one, it only further reduces the amount of processes running and makes the OS run more efficiently.
The root or purpose of all mods is to make the operating system and/or the music software run to maximum efficiency.
The lines of code are already installed no need to do them over again, in fact if you open the rcS file again you will see them at the bottom. Commenting out the other lines just insures that those processes are not running. Just be sure to type reboot in the console window afterwards.
BTW, you are Welcome about the mod...this is all about good sound for everyone.

Yes, I like this mod. More detailed and smoother sound, especially noticeable on my hi rez needledrops. Well done.

Thank you....I will proceed per your instruction...much appreciated!
Edit 8/6: For those who've implemented Soundcheck's Toolbox, WLAN is, indeed, already disabled (assuming you've enable that particular mod). And, I get the commenting out thing....embarassingly simple now that I understand.Last edited by rgro; 2011-08-06 at 07:07.
