    New Squeezebox Touch Mod

I just wanted to share a recent mod I started using on my Touch.

It came from the same set of mods I use on my Linux/Music Player Daemon machine.

    The Mod does three things.

    increase audio threads priority
prevent audio threads from sharing interrupt lines
adjust interrupts/processes according to their use

    An outline can be found
    https://sites.google.com/site/comput...x-touch-tweaks

Its pretty simple to do, give it a try and let me know what you think.

    Happy Listening.

P.S. This mod is done in conjunction with Soundchecks mod with the buffer set to 3600.

Does this overlap soundcheck's mods? Maybe the same ideas are in soundcheck's latest mods...?
CiAudio VDC-SB - Touch (TT 2.0 mods, removed toslink, disconnected screen, buf:20000)
PSaudio DLIII DAC (Cullen 4 mods) - PSaudio Trio C-100 Amp (Cullen 3 mods)
Energy Veritas 2.2i speakers (mundorf silver oil capacitors, inductor, and resistor mods)
    Martin Logan Depth i (x2) (xover at 35Hz, +2db boost at 20-25Hz)
Cardas power cables - PSaudio Duet - Cardas clear light interconnect -- black cat XV-ULTRA digital cable - Audioquest slate biwire spkr cables

    No overlap.

    1) I took a look at Soundchecks mods to see exactly what they were doing before I decided to implement these mods.

    2) This command [ps -eLo pid, cls, rtprio, pri, nice, cmd | grep -i "irq"] will tell you exactly what priorities the audio threads etc. are at, none were affected with Soundchecks Level 2 mods.

    3) Repeating the above command after my mod will clearly show the new priority settings.

    Hi Dynaudiorules,

I'm really interested in trying this out but I'm a total Linux newb....
I'm not 100% clear about what I'm supposed to do.....

What I have done is opened WinScp, logged in, navigated to the proper file and installed the 5 yellow highlighted lines of code, and rebooted the Touch. So far so good.

What I don't understand is what, if anything else, I'm supposed to do. I've got Soundcheck's mods installed and so the WLAN is already disabled. Do I also need to go in and comment out the lines having to do with Samba? If so, how does one "comment out" something?? If I have to go back in and comment this out, do I also need to reinstall those previously installed 5 lines of code?

Is all the stuff under "Detailed information about the mod..." just informational or is there other stuff in there that needs to be done?

Finally, I have the buffer size set (via Soundcheck's mod) to 4000 because I was getting crackle at 3600. How much, if any, does this adversely affect your mods?

Sorry for all the questions, but I really am a complete novice at this.
Thanks for any help and, especially, thanks for your work should this turn out to improve the sound quality of the Touch.

That's really all you need to do.

The other section is just showing how to get more detail about the system and section 3. installs the mods on a one-off basis.

Editing the file as you did makes the changes permanent.

Do you notice any difference in sound output?
