Question Why no new apps coming out?

Why doesn't Logitech make new apps for new services, like Rdio and Amazon Cloud player? Sono has Rdio app, so it can and should be done. Is there a technical reason, or is it a business decision on the part of Logitech?

I'd happily trade future new apps for stable code. Hopefully Logitech are focused on making the stuff they've got work instead of adding even more function (that doesn't work). Been with Slim etc. since the start and having gone thru a period of no CD's being played, they are starting to creep back in as reliability of Squeeze gets worse..

It's only a business decision but they do release new apps now and then, for example the Orange Liveradio app was released last week together with the 7.6 release.

Why no new apps coming out?

I'd *really* like to see a MOG app. I like the MOG service better than
Spotify and would love to have it on my Squeezeboxes.

Also note that MOG themselves have a feature recommendation and voting
    system.

The MOG moderator has indicated that the build project has begun (with a
Q4 2011 target) but "depends on some things beyond MOG's control". This
sounds as if they are dependent on some level of cooperation from
Logitech, which is why I'm stumping for it however I can.

If you are also interested in this feature, please vote for both the SB
    and MOG enhancement requests.

And if you're looking for a music streaming service, I'd encourage you
to sign up for the MOG trial. (No, I'm not affiliated - just a fan)

The MOG for Squeezebox feature request is here:

What in particular do you like about MOG?

I've also used Spotify and prefer MOG for the following reasons:

    - In MOG, you can organize your library by artist, album, or playlist. With Spotify, you can only organize by playlist, so the Squeezebox apps (both Logitech's and Triode's) can only be sorted using playlists. This is not the way I listen to music most of the time. The only way to sort by artist is to create playlists for each individual artist/album and manually alphabetize them, which is both inconvenient and time consuming.

    - iPhone app is far superior, again primarily because you can organize by album/artist, as well as by playlist.

    - You can search for playlists by keyword within the MOG application. With Spotify, you need to search through various 3rd party playlist sites.

    - Major gaps in US catalog, although this seems to be improving gradually.

    - And most importantly, sound quality - according to some blogs, less than half of Spotify tracks are actually encoded at 320 kbps, even for premium accounts. There have been few such SQ complaints with MOG (although they have noted in one support forum that one of the major labels only allows 256 kbps), and they seem to take their claims of 320 kbps encoding far more seriously than Spotify.
