Hi. I am having a problem with my Squeezebox server (latest version) not starting up. Nor does it allow me to enter any data (password etc.). I am locked out at the moment. It's a new system so I'm sure I'll figure it out. Funny, it worked for a day or two then stopped. I'm just wondering if it's ok to use firewire 800 as a connection ... I only see mention of USB on this forum.
Setup: Mac Powerbook running OSX 10.4
Connecting via ethernet.

Use firewire as a connection between what?
If you mean have a firewire drive plugged into your Mac with your music on it, rather than a USB drive used in the same way, there's no difference as far as SBS is concerned.Don't push your love too far

You might have a Touch, but your problem is related to Squeezebox Server on your Mac, not the Touch itself.
You won't find many references to Firewire, especially now, it's kind of a dead interface (which is a shame, I always preferred it to USB). Many references on this part of the forums concerning USB will relate to directly connecting a drive to the USB port on the Touch, not something that relates to your problem at all.
I would post a thread over in the Squeezebox Server section: http://forums.slimdevices.com/forumdisplay.php?f=27
You might get more response there. Be prepared to provide more information than you have already though, you haven't really given a lot to go on.

Thank you Funkstar. I do realise that the problem is related to the server. I will post over at the server forum.
Cheers!

Thank you for your responses. It appears it had nothing to do with the drive. I went to an older version of SBS (7.5.6) and it looks like it's going to work. At least it's scanning now!
