When I choose "view tag" in SC Server it displays "Comment" followed by the size of the file in bytes. The actual comment appears when I click on an individual song, there is no need to go to "view tag"
I have taken a couple of screen shots to illustrate
Yes my files are FLAC files

puddletag will work with any fields/ tags, all that's required is that you display them in the main view. They're visible in extended tags and they can be added to tag panel as well. Habits can be hard to break though and tagscanner is a nice tool.
Linux finally gets a great audio tagger: puddletag - now packaged in most Linux distributions.

FLAC Tag "comment" does not show in SC

Sorry for re-activing this thread, but i'm having serious problems with the comment field in FLAC files.

Some comments do show up, others don't. It has nothing to do with the size of the comments. One FLAC file has a comment text with 2105 bytes: it shows up, other files have more or less than this size; nervertheless comments are not visible.

No clue what the reason is.

    I'm on SC 7.61.

    HELP!

How do they look in, say, mp3tag?

    Location 2: VBA 3TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio)
    Office: Win7(64) > LMS 7.7.2 > SqueezePlay
    Spares: VBA 4TB, SB3, Touch (3), Radio (3), CONTROLLER
Controllers: iPhone4S (iPeng), iPad2 (iPengHD & SqueezePad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.7 on Win7(64) laptop
Ripping (FLAC) - dbpoweramp, Tagging - mp3tag, Spotify

Ok. Just checking that the comments show up in a few other programs. Any connection between comments not showing and nonenglish characters/letters?

What do the corresponding screenshots for the LMS web ui look like? Pull up the tracks and click on View Tags.

As Tony T alluded to in post #11, I think either mp3tag or dBpoweramp changed its tag mapping a few versions back, so that some things that I expect to get written to COMMENT get written to DESCRIPTION instead.

Comments show in MP3TAG and in dbPowerAmp, even in VLC Media Player.

OK, is has something to do with characters: i've copied the comment text which was working (from the Dire Straits Album) to one of the files, which do not work. After that i rebuild my complete databsase in SC (sic!), to be sure that there is no database problem. Result: comment now shows up!

Mhmm, i'm going to investigate the characters now......

Web-UI, Controller-UI and SqueezePlay-UI behave consistently. If a comment shows up in one of them, it shows up in all of them. And also the other way around (no comment in one App, no cemment in all Apps)
