Unhappy Failed to download repository information

I am trying to install Squeezebox Server on to Ubuntu 11.04 from deb http ://debian.slimdevices.com/ stable main and keep getting this error message:-

W:GPG error: http ://debian.slimdevices.com stable InRelease: File /var/lib/apt/lists/partial/debian.slimdevices.com_dists_stable_InRelease doesn't start with a clearsigned message, W:Failed to fetch gzip:/var/lib/apt/lists/partial/debian.slimdevices.com_dists_stable_main_source_So urces Encountered a section with no Package: header
    , W:Failed to fetch http ://debian.slimdevices.com/dists/stable/main/binary-i386/Packages Bad header line [IP: 4.23.56.254 80]
, W:Failed to fetch //debian.slimdevices.com/dists/stable/main/i18n/Index No Hash entry in Release file /var/lib/apt/lists/partial/debian.slimdevices.com_dists_stable_main_i18n_Inde x
, E:Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Am I pointing APT at the right repository? Or is there a problem on the Slimdevices side?

Also tried to install from download and reporting dependencies missing (MySQL). Surely the software should go and fetch and install the necessary dependencies for it to run?

Trying to move away from Microsoft so any help appreciated. Thanks

Have you read thru this thread?

    http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...t=86391&page=4

Not all is relevant, but has a wealth of tips for installing in UBUNTU. I more or less used most of the info when installing on my shuttle PC natty 11.04.

    Good luck!

Red face Thanks Allen. Your comments are greatly appreciated.

Gave up trying on Ubuntu Server 11.04 and moved to Desktop 11.04 Source/Repository "deb http://debian.slimdevices.com stable main" definitely not working. So I installed from downloaded from http://www.mysqueezebox.com/download. On installation Ubuntu desktop threw up warnings that the install was badly written software but I told installation routine to ignore warnings and carry on installing.
After installation and a reboot (old windows hangover I'm afraid) I was able get to the web interface and my Touch is also communicating with it. The downside is that the squeeze box server appears not to be able to scan my media files, but this might be due to files being in the wrong folder.

    Will keep trying

    Patrick

PS Sorry spelt your name wrong Allan!

Am also getting this for stable, testing and unstable.

from apt-get update for the last one:

W: GPG error: http://debian.slimdevices.com unstable InRelease: File /var/lib/apt/lists/partial/debian.slimdevices.com_dists_unstable_InRelease doesn't start with a clearsigned message
W: Failed to fetch http://debian.slimdevices.com/dists/...amd64/Packages Bad header line [IP: 209.84.24.126 80]

W: Failed to fetch http://debian.slimdevices.com/dists/...ain/i18n/Index No Hash entry in Release file /var/lib/apt/lists/partial/debian.slimdevices.com_dists_unstable_main_i18n_In dex

I was previously able to install it like this.
In this install I did update my kernel to 3.0.0-5. Could that be of influence?

I've downloaded the 7.5.4 version that I think I previously must have gotten.
The install still mentioned it was bad or dirty or whatever, but went ahead.

It does seem to be able to find my files. it says it's scanning right now and the number looks plausible.

I keep my music in /home/user/Music/library (if that helps you)

Thumbs up The debian.slimdevices.com repository is broken

Slimdevices / logitech have broken their web servers for the last few days / week.

See excellent post by mas90 describing the problem and saying how to fix this issue:

Thanks for the info, haven't read it yet, but at least now I feel more sane
