The weird thing is that there seem to be a lot of things that come into play.
I once uploaded a number of files that fully reproducibly crash the server on various ubuntu installations I tried them out on while they worked perfectly fine on my Mac.
Nobody at Logitech seemed to be able to reproduce the issue, though.

All of my mp3 files have id3v2.4 UTF-8 tags only. Predominantly tagged using Mp3Tag and Foobar.

Jim, MP3Tag has been used to clean up these tags, the scanner logs from the crashes mentioned earlier and the last mp3 files logged are here -
http://www.mediafire.com/?pyt924hawpx8d feel free to have a look at them. As I have said in this thread and many times in other threads, the scanner.exe from r32108 works fine.A camel is a racehorse designed by a committee.

Please don't mix and match scanner.exe from a different version, you are inviting all sorts of other problems such as incompatible databases, etc. If you have scanner crashes, please see the bug which has instructions on how you can help. http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=17173

For anyone running from SVN checkouts, what would be the SBS version numbers that correspond to each of the builds that you're producing? Anyone experiencing the problem and running from the Perl code could just roll back to those versions and figure out which is the earliest one to fail.

I think it would have been a lot easier to have had someone Fed-Ex you a disk with a library on it.

r32752 OK
r32755 crashed
r32753 OK
r32754 OK
r32755 crashed on 3 runs with scanner logging set to debug.
A complete uninstall and delete of cache and prefs was performed before each
install of a new version. The music library was all mp3 and is a subset of my
normal library.A camel is a racehorse designed by a committee.
