I believe in many things but the impulse/time domain or whatever you mean with that is more as enough with 16/44.1.
Todays hardware can do 24/192 and higher. You can´t sell a device today that only plays 16/48. The Transporter maxes out at 24/96 btw.
Since business has to go on they sell it, people already buy it so the market is there.
Well here we have a thread with numbers:

The member Woodinville knows some things and is part of the AES team AFAIK. You may ask him for more input if you need help with more deep math.

Oh very good one first articles linked explains some of it will have a good read in the weekend .
That an analog signal of the same bandwidth has the same " problems " in the Time dimension , that bandwith and noise sets the same limitation be it digital or analog and that they are equvavilent--------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, this thread is a real beast. Stumbled across it lately. One day when i understand everything in there + the links that are offered inside this thread i´ll be happy.
At least there is a chance for me to know things at some time and no need to trust in faith and believes.Transporter (modded) -> RG142 -> Avantgarde Acoustic based 500VA monoblocks -> Sommer SPK240 -> self-made speakers

All start with a 1-bit DSD source. All can deliver a final 1-bit DSD "master." How they get there is a different story, though.
The Pyramix, the instant you put the system in edit/mix mode, converts the DSD source to 24bit,325.8kHz pcm for all editing and then re-converts back to DSD for the output to DACs or mastering. All DSD audio, from beginning to end of what you're working on, has gone through the conversion/re-conversion process. This is NOT just simple math being performed. The audio goes through internal pcm and sigma/delta converters for the process.
SADiE (or Sonoma) keeps the DSD source as DSD (no conversion) except at the actual edit crossfade, where an insert occurs the length of the crossfade of 8bit,2.8Mhz pcm and back to DSD. This conversion occurs ONLY at the crossfade. All DSD source on either side of the edit is untouched as long as the "bypass mixer" button is pushed I defy anyone to hear the conversion effect for the duration of an edit crossfade! There is no low-pass filtering used or needed. The "annex" DSD metering verifies there is no increase in UHF noise.Vortexbox>SBT(stock)>>Forssell MDAC-2>>>Klein and Hummell 0300D
