WOL - Worked on XP but not after installing Vista64

My squeezebox server worked with wol fine under XP. The OS became corrupted to the point where I couldn't repair and I had a unused copy of Vista64 so I installed that with all updates, latest drivers, etc.

Now I can not get wol to work again. I've spent quite a few hours tweaking, searching the web, etc.

What the heck?

Motherboard is an Intel D975xbx. The bios has been setup for it. I didn't change it when I installed Vista64. I have set the proper parms in the driver for the onboard nic. What can I be missing?

Anyone have any ideas?

Maybe try uninstalling SBS completely, download a fresh copy and try again

There is no way whatsoever that SBS could enable or disable the WOL ability of your computer. You say WOL is enabled in the BIOS, but have you actually confirmed that WOL is working on the computer? Try using one of the many WOL utilities available -- or your router if it can send WOL packets -- to wake the computer up from another computer to make sure it works.

Once you've confirmed that, make sure that you connect your Squeezebox(es) to the server at least once before you try to use WOL. The WOL packet is sent only to the last server you were connected to.

Don't forget to check the advanced properties of the windows nic driver itself. There are details buried down there that vary from driver to driver and it's sometimes possible to end up with conflicting settings that will disable WOL. You may have already sorted that out, but that's where I'd start.
