    HD stream BBC 3

So for the moment if you are getting 320k streams enjoy it, but don't count on it lasting long term....
This stream is available now. How can I configure the BBC plugin to use it (the default HD stream does not work (in NL))

If you have selected to use "live AAC" then the Radio 3 menu will play the 320kb AAC stream.

If you are using 7.5* or 7.6.0 or 7.6.1 on an older player - this AAC stream will show up as a MP3 stream. This bug is corrected in 7.6.2 inwards.

I am using 7.5.4 on my NAS, in combination with a SB touch.

AFAIK the bug is mainly cosmetic for Touch - the stream plays OK at 320kbps.

Play the Radio 3 stream using the Plugin (not Applet) and then look at the stream details with "+" and "more Info"
    edit:
Touch will not show the speed as it plays AAC natively but I have checked the URL and it is 320kbps for me in Irl.

Does BBC Radio 3 HD work on the SB Touch *inside* the UK?

For the record (for the sake of google search results as much as for the purposes of this original thread): it seems that the bbc radio 3 stream at http : // w w w .bbc.co.uk/radio/player/bbc_radio_three DOES work anywhere in the world. I tested with USA IP, Netherlands IP, and Australia IP.

.....Thank goodness! It would be very bad business decision if they kept restricting to UK. Radio stations ought to be pure internet streaming like they all started out - international, for all classical fans out there.

UNLESS I'm a dimbo and you guys are all talking about the *HD* stream. in which case: apoligies, but at least I cleared it up for future googlers like me who came right to this thread when wondering about the normal stream!

I understand Radio 3 HD is extended outside the uk for the duration of the Proms season only. The BBCiPlayer and BBC Radio plugins support it via an explicit entry in the special events menu.

More generally the BBC streams are restricted bandwidth outside the uk for exactly business reasons - the BBC is funded by a license fee which is only paid by users in the the uk and they have no source of funding for distribution outside the uk, so they restrict bandwidth to constrain costs...
