Hello,
I'm running sbs 7.5.4 on FreeBSD 8.2, used the FreeBSD port to install it.
I seem to be having trouble with the scanner. Whenever I try to scan for new music the scan completes rather quickly (matter of seconds; webinterface tells me it completed the scan) but the scanner log is full of errors (see attach) and new music doesn't show up.
I've been looking at (file, directory) access rights for the scanner but can find anything strange. The music directory and the sbs are on the same machine.
Looking at the errors, could someone point me in the right direction for solving this?
Richard

Not sure. I thought that Squeezeboxserver uses it's own 'embedded' mysqld. Looking at the start-up script, it indeed does not seem to require MySQL. So I don't think that's the case.
You CAN use an already installed MySQL, but I'm not doing that.
Maybe I should say that squeezeboxserver IS running and I can use my squeezeboxes just fine.
I just added 3 newly bought CD's to my collection and now they ARE added to the database. The errors in the scanner log remain, however.
After a single scan of my rather modest collection (750 CD's) the scanner log is 26MB and doing:
Can't say this looks good to me.Code:[/var/log/squeezeboxserver] [18:51:00 root]$ grep -o throw_exception scanner.log | wc -w 47430

PS: just curious; are you the same Lou1z that's active on the 'Amahi' forums ??

yep same one.....
you're sort of right. if you have a look at the ports
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/ports.cgi...rver&stype=all
you will see that it does require mysql. the only way i could get it to run was to install mysql-5.1.56 first and then compile from there.
without doing this, a compile would install mysql-5.5.11 and i ended up with errors.
i've not really had a chance to play with it at the moment as i got it up and running by downgrading mysql.
tinkering with munin at the moment and scientific linux but i'll probably get round to looking again in a month or so.
i'm about to move away from amahi and currently undecided whether to go to freebsd or centos6 when it arrives, hence the tinkering etc.Last edited by Lou1z; 2011-05-08 at 01:15.

I'm also having the same problem as Never Simple.
Am very new to FBSD, and am really struggling to get this to work
Just wondering if there is an easy fix, and if the only way is to downgrade mysql to 5.1.56, can some kind soul provide a run-through of the commands required to do so, I'm assuming this would require the deinstall of squeezebox then mysql, then the installation of the correct mysql version etc etc...
Greatly appreciated if anyone can help
