Same problem here with avast6 and win7. I disabled widows firewall and used zone alarm and that worked. Then it all packed in again so I removed avast 6. All is well for the moment!

Been running fine with Win7 SP1, Avast and my Win7 firewall rule changes that Stormy linked to in the second post in this thread.

Thumbs up And another one - what happened?

I had this same problem crop up a few days ago and it really pi**ed me off because it was not consistent. Sometimes everything worked, other times only my dear old SlimP3 on its wired connection gave forth music.

I did get it working with the firewall on and without the rules, but don't ask me how. Reinstalling, factory resets, router reboots - did it all.

Adding the inbound rules (above) for ports 3483, 9000 and 9090 seems to have worked, but has anyone got to the bottom of this issue? Hopefully all will be OK now, but I'd like to know what happened to satisfy what few intellectual cravings I still have at my age. Cripes - I had to play actual CDs for a few nights!

I'm running W7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit, SBS 7.5.4 r32171, Avast Free 6.0.1125 (bog standard). Happy to provide any further diagnostic info if necessary.

    Thank you and good night.

I think the general consensus was that it had something do to with Avast 6 which I thought was very odd considering that its supposed to be an anti-virus program and not a firewall !

I thought it was a Windoze problem, but either way ...

BIG RESPECT and thanks to w3wilkes et al for posting the solution.

I've just added a wireless repeater, changed SSIDs and channels, added another Squeezebox, rebooted everything and all is "muito bom" as we say in these 'ere parts.

    Obrigado e boa noite
