I read in the FAQ that Squeezebox will play wma, when the slimserver runs on Windows. Does the SLIMP3 also support wma? I tried a couple of wma encoded songs with no luck. Running v5.2.1 on WinXP SP1.
Thanks,
..Dan

the server converts to mp3 for slimp3, so you will need LAME installed in your
windows path (c:\windows\, or c:\windows\system, or c:\program
files\slimserver\server\ for eg.)
check the server settings, file types, to see if your system has the wma-to-mp3
conversion option enabled. the description will tell you if the server has
found the right tools.

Ok. That did it, thanks.
When you say "the server converts to mp3 for slimp3", does that mean it
converts to something different (like .wav) for squeezebox? & Does that
mean slimp3 doesn't support wav?
-- any idea when the server will support Real Audio streaming?
Thanks again,
Dan

That's correct.

slimp3 has a hardware mp3 decoder. Wav's that are sent to slimp3 from
slimserver care converted to mp3 for playback. Squeezebox supports WAV so any
non-mp3 is converted to WAV or AIFF to be sent to squeezebox. MP3's are sent as
mp3's to squeezebox as well.
