    RE: Gentoo init.d script

    Guys

if you would like the script set from my Solaris install
then I can post it tomorrow. It is pretty straight forward and
not particularly rocket science, but it works.

    Regards Laurence

The more the merrier, I think. Maybe it could become a project, like the
effort to gather a "Hello, World!" program in every existing language. I can
    see the bullet point now...

    Re: Gentoo init.d script

    I couldn't find a init.d script for Debian, so here's a modified version
of the Gentoo script submitted earlier that works for Debian
Woody/Sarge. Please read the first few lines to make sure that they are
    correct for your system.

Hopefully, it will save a few minutes for Debian users .

    Thanks,

    Re: Gentoo init.d script

Thanks, but I wonder if the version number is really a good thing to
have hard coded in there. Is this a typically Debian thing to do?

    Re: Gentoo init.d script

You are right. The script should be more generic. Depending on the user
install the DAEMON variable can be set to the correct binary. Please
change the DAEMON variable to something like
    /usr/local/SlimServer/slimserver.pl.

    Thanks,

Which mirror has it? I use netselect-apt to find the fastest servers
around me. Both the stable and testing tree does not have it. I did not
check the unstable tree. Also a search on apt-get.org does not return
    anything.

In any case, I installed the latest nightly built, for which the debs
    would be hard to find.

    Thanks,

4.2.6 is in testing and in unstable. still no packages for stable, but I
can port if you really need it.

    http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/pool/main/s/slimp3/
    http://qa.debian.org/developer.php?l...itux (DOT) org

    (packages.{qa.,}debian.org are still down)

    apt-get.org seems to be broken:

    http://www.apt-get.org/list/?site=205
    http://www.litux.org/debian/unstable...es.html#slimp3

You are totally right! we need some kind of apt-cvs
