When i search for music on my Squeezebox Touch i get search results that contains tracks that i canīt listen to because they are "not available in my region". I donīt have the problem on my PC or Iphone. In some cases i get several hits for the same album, one can usaully be played. In some cases i get one result that canīt be played.
If i search for Bruno Mars latest album i get one result that i can listen to and one that does not work. If i search for Septembers album Love CPR i get one result that does no work. I live in Sweden.
To me if seems that the app does something wrong when it performs a search so that the result contains tracks for several regions, then when i try to play them the Spotify server refuses to stream the file since it is not intended for my region.
When will this be fixed? Is there some workaround that i can apply?
I have a brand new Touch. When i connected it for the first time yesterday it upgraded the firmware so i assume i have the most recent version.

What is needed to fix the problem
After browsing the Spotify API i think that what is missing fro
the SB Spotify client are calls to the following functions to filter out unavailable albums and tracks.
bool sp_album_is_available ( sp_album ** album *)*
bool sp_track_is_available ( sp_session ** session,
sp_track ** track *
)
To improve it further (better than Sonos) is to also use
bool sp_track_is_autolinked ( sp_session ** session,
sp_track ** track *
)
To handle tracks that are availabe on another album.

We were asked by Spotify not to filter unavailable tracks. This is because the REST API we are using does not support the rather strange "auto-linking" feature libspotify does, so too many tracks become filtered even if there is a linked version available. They are aware of this problem and will hopefully fix it eventually.

My problem is more than just the autolinking since right now i get multiple hits for the same album. Most of the time i can play one of them the rest guve the "track not available". This makes spotify on the touch practically useless. I tried Spotify on an SB Radio in a store today.
It worked a lot better, i only got one result for Doo-Wops & Hooligans by Bruno Mars, on my Touch i get two, one playable the other "unavailable in my region". On the Radio i could not find the Love CPR album by September on my Touch i get one album result that fails to play. This makes the SB radio consistent with Spotify on Iphone, Android and PC. The SB radio was using the stores Spotify account, not mine. I don't know the version Number of the Radio SW. Are the Radio and Touch using the same Spotify applet?
I just replaced my SB3 with a Touch just to get Spotify without the need for a PC, so i hope that this is not the way it is intended to work, since the SB3 with Triodes plugin worked better.
Is mysqueezebox servers involved when i use spotify or is the Touch talking directly to Spotify servers? I tried the Spotify beta in SqueezePlay, could that cause my problems?
EDIT: after re-reading your post i wonder if the problem is that even if you where asked not to filter tracks, you should still filter out unavailable albums? That would solve my problems.
Regards

Ideally if the track is not playable it should of course not even be listed when I search. If that is not possible the Squeezebox sohuld at least not playing when it reaches that track.

If you can't filter out the non-playable tracks/albums etc, could you at least colour the font differently, make them grey or something? Having too many search results is annoying, but attempting to play something and having it tell you you can't play it is a serious pain!

Actually, further to my previous post, it looks like tracks are being filtered at the first search levels (i.e. in the first list of tracks that appear, and in the 'albums' results), but not when 'Artists' results are selected, then 'albums' etc selected from within a particular artist. Is it not possible to filter here as earlier?

I own the Squeezebox Touch for a little while now, this is the first, and propably the most annoying thing I have been running into. Some artists list over 3 albums with the same title. It is only a matter of trial and error to pick the right one for your region. This really should have a priority for fixing. It can be easily reproduced. Search for any artist, go into albums menu: voila.

Same problem here.
It is really annoying that you need to try out sometimes more than 3 different versions of the same album to find out which one plays in your region.
