Hi Gary,
It's got me beat as well, FWIW ;-) .
Today it ran for nearly 4 hours before losing the 'Now Playing' info. I'm beginning to wonder if the above suggestion of pop-up blocker getting involved might be the problem - in my position I'll consider anything :-) .
Thanks for your interest.
Dave.

Interesting. And I mentioned "port blocking" not popup blocking. But then again if it was port blocking I don't think you'd ever get the track info at all, and you do get it some of the time. I have to believe this is something on your system rather than a problem with the TOUCH. You do seem to have a much more complicated than normal setup.
Have you looked at the logs in SbS:
SbS > Settings > Advanced > LOGGING
look at your Server log file. (down below you can set the server log for debug to get more verbose output).

Hi Gary,
Sorry for the delay - I'm still very keen to sort this thing out but I've had a bad weekend with Cluster Headaches. I'm about to expose what a real numptie I am but I cannot follow the above suggestion as I get different options to the ones you offer so I'm probably looking in the wrong place.
I assume that you are suggesting that I open up SbS by clicking on the Touch icon on the (bottom) task bar? - if so, the tabs that are available, reading L o R, are Status, Library, Account, Advanced, Diagnostics and Information - in other words 'Settings' ain't there. If I go direct to 'Advanced' one of the options available is 'Log Files' and two options are available under that heading, 'Show Server Log' and 'Show Scanner Log'. Both open up Notepad and display lines and lines of information - are either of these what we (you) need to look at?
Sorry for being such a numptie :-( .
TIA,
Dave.

You can also get to SBS Settings from the Control Panel itself, Contro Panel > Advanced > Advanced Settings

Hi Gary,
Yep, you're right, that's exactly where I was :-( . Going into Web Remote Control, what I get near the bottom right are 3 options: About, Server Settings and Player Settings. The last two list various options about the Touch set up, none of which, as far as I can see, make any reference to Logs. The most informative item provides Player MAC address and IP address etc. and it has my player IP address as 192.168.0.69, the 69 part being way above the number of items on my network. When I was having to put the IP adress in manually to try to get it to connect via ethernet I gave it 25 for the last no. As I have a lot less items on my network than 25 I thought that no. would be OK so I have no idea where it got the no. 69 from - or is all that irrelevant to this particular problem?
TIA,
Dave.

Once you are on your web browser in settings, you should see lots of tabs. One of these is ADVANCED. Click on this. Then on this page you have a drop down menu. Click on this and one of the options is LOGGING. click on this. Then you see a page of various items and logging options. Scroll down and look for "(server) - general server information" and set this to "debug". Be sure to click APPLY in lower right corner after this. Going forward you can then look at this log by going to the top of this page and clicking on the squeezebox Server log files (1000 lines). See picture below.
Also, you might post a quick summary of exactly where you are at the moment in terms of setup and use. I'm a bit lost in terms of what is working and what is not working. One minute your working on improving the powersupply so I'm assuming that all must be working, but then it seems it is not. Sort of like I've been feeding you info on doing an oil change in your car and the next thing I hear is that you've got the engine dismantled in the garage and are wondering about the next step of adding the supercharger. ;-)
Anyhow, a quick summary of current status would be useful.Last edited by garym; 2012-01-02 at 11:29.

Thanks Gary,
I don't have access to the PC and Touch at the moment so I wont be able to advise further until tomorrow. Meanwhile, have you seen my response to Toby10 above? - just thought it might throw another shaft of light somewhere :-) .
AND, from memory, I don't get anything like the screen shot you provide above when I do as you ask but I'll confirm that tomorrow???
Regarding upgrading the power supply, my logic is that it could go ahead in parallel with the other things as the two things are totally seperate. I'm currently (sorry :-) ), supplying my Touch with 5V DC which comes out of a linear PSU and is then fed through a JLH Ripple Eater (without current limiter) and, IMHO, it does lift the SQ considerably. Like I've said before I'm more than happy with the noises that the Touch supplies and it is only the outstanding SQ that makes me want to persist in getting the Now Playing display sorted.
Thanks again,
Dave.

having the IP address end with 69 doesn't mean anything. That must be the number you assigned it (did you give it a static IP somewhere along the line). Doesn't mean you have 69 things attached to your router/network.
One thing to be clear about: Are you running a single instance of SqueezeboxServer? And is this on the machine where you are looking at settings, etc.?
