Hi,
I am using my Squeezebox Boom for 2 purposes:
- playing music via Squeezeboxserver
- as a desktop speaker for my PC
I am currently running Squeezeboxserver 7.5.3.
Currently, the only way I have found to switch to line in mode in order to hear the output of the PC is to press the "Back" button, scroll the wheel to "Line In" and press the wheel to select.
This is a bit of a long winded process to go through every time I power on the system. As a result, I am looking for a way to map this action to a single physical button on the Boom (not remote).
I have tried the Kidsplay plugin (version 2.6.2) as discussed on these forums but this doesn't work for me. I just get the error "preset #1 not defined" when I try to assign a command to a button.
Even if I get this working, I don't know the CLI command to switch to line in mode. Could anyone please tell me how to do this?
Thanks,
Dave

Hello, I use my Boom for exactly same purposes
I've just set up one of 6 preset buttons for Line-in. Just start Line-in, then press and hold one of buttons, and it's already programmed. Also from player settings I've chose Line-in to be always on.

Thank you for the reply Iko. This works for me when I add a preset under Now Playing > Line In.
Regarding the "Line In always on" feature, this would be even better for me. However, I cannot get it to work reliably. Even though the player claims that the feature is enabled after a power cycle, I need to disable it and then enable it to hear any audio from the PC connected via Line in. It works fine after turning the Boom off / on using the button on the front of the player. I may create a new thread about this issue.
Thanks again for your help.
Regards,
Dave

I wonder if you left the device plugged into the Boom's line in if that would keep it an active input?
If so, maybe a 6 inch m-f patch cable to leave plugged in?
Just a wild guess as I've never used the line in feature.
