SqueezePlug: Squeezeboxserver on
- SheevaPlug
- Dockstar
- Goflex Net
- Tonido
Hi folks,
this is the new official thread for SqueezePlug. The old thread will not be continued because there are discussed a lot of non actual things.
The two old threads have been read 104.163 time (till 31.01.11), wow!!!
But now it's time for renewal!
I will start the new Version with a new Image for SqueezePlug, because I haven't updated Images for Sheeva for a long period. That's because I searched a long time for a solution to run SqueezeSlave on this device. Now I found the solution (thanks to Ralphy the developer of SqueezeSlave).
The other devices will follow soon and the wiki will be updated.
I'm sure it's a very cool version and I hope you will love it like I do!
What's new in Version 3.50?
- New setup scripts (run setup)
- Install SqueezeSlave to play sound out of the device
- Install TwonkyServer an other DLNA Server (30 days trial)
- Setup simple SambaServer
- Setup HD-Idle ro spin down an externel HD
- Install Webmin
- A lot of more cool scripts to make life easy
- New kernel with support for newer devices
- Updated Debian Squeeze
- Update function for SqueezePlug
Please visit my blog at: squeezeplug.de
The new version are the 3.50 versions (first available for SheevaPlugs, others will follow soon)
Have fun and please report bugs in the SqueezeBox Forum!
Greetings,
Thomas

Can SqueezePlug play Musepack (mpc) files?
I picked up a dockstar and would love to install SqueezePlug on it, but want to first verify it can handle mpc (musepack) encoded files, which make up a good percentage of my music collection (I saw some discussion about requirements on floating point processing for transcoding).
If the answer is no, I wonder if anyone could recommend the best transcoder to use to preserve the quality of my music (most of which is encoded at -xtreme)?
Thanks!

Thats looks excellent and i hope the script can be run on a std or already built debian. Indeed i believe its very important to separate the os installation from the application pack installation so that we can benefit from both the good things developped by others in jeff doozan's project and the squeezeplug project together. I always thought that this image based installation is an issue and makes think unneccessarily complicated when jeff's procedure guarantees an always uptodate setup. And its also prerty reliable.
Thank for your support

eSATA support?
I am thinking about buying a Sheeva multiboot from NewIT, but since they are not available at the moment, I am considering the eSATA Sheeva Multiboot.
Will it work with your new compiled Squeezeplug? Or is it only for 'normal' Sheeva and I have to wait for availability?
