I run SBS on a windows computer that is on all the time. My music files are on my ReadyNAS which appears on my computer as the M: drive. (actually \\readynas\media\music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music )
Until recently, my computer was running Windows vista and SBS 7.5.2 and all was well. I was able to see my music library from all 3 Squeezeboxes.
I installed a new hard disk in the computer and installed Windows 7 on it, then installed SBS 7.5.3. But now SBS can't see any of my music files and I can't play anything on my Squeezeboxes other than internet radio and sound effects.
1. When I go to SBS settings, basic settings -> music folder , if I click the Browse button, the only options are C:, D:, or E:. But in Windows Explorer I can see that my network drives M:, P:, V: exist.
2. When I go to SBS settings, basic settings, and enter in the Music Folder and Playlists Folder, I get these errors:
Invalid value "M:\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music" for audiodir
Invalid value "M:\iTunes\Playlists" for playlistdir
3. I tried going to SBS Settings -> iTunes tab (I have "use iTunes' checked), and entering M: but I get this error:
Invalid value "M:\" for xml_file
What am I doing wrong?

Try remapping M: using the NAS ip address eg. : \\192.168.1.100\music
You may have to restart windows before this will work. You might want to control panel/administrative tools/windows firewall with advanced security
since Win7 has several levels of firewall that will need the rules for 3483/tcp/udp and 9000/tcp
Alternately, be sure you let SBS scan SOMETHING with music in it when you install. Don't try to change to the NAS on the install screen ('aka control panel') Be sure you change the music folder using the webUI.

If SBS is set to run as a system service (when you start the computer, not only when you log in to it), then it can only see system disks. Network mounts are only created when you log in. A service doesn't see them.

Use the UNC path instead, eg.: \\192.168.1.100\music

No, SBS starts only when I log in. (I would actually prefer that it starts when the computer starts, but don't know how to do this.)
I tried that and I got these errors:
Invalid value "\\192.168.1.3\media\music\iTunes" for xml_file
Invalid value "\\192.168.1.3\media\music\iTunes\iTunes Media" for music_path
I checked both these paths using Windows Explorer, and they are valid (spelled correctly, etc.)Last edited by malcolm4; 2011-01-31 at 09:11. Reason: add a clarification

Just a shot in the dark, but could it be permissions? I know Windows 7 can be a little picky with "owners", so maybe check the permission on the folder and/or files, but I would start at the highest part of the tree and work down. Just an idea.

OK. iTunes is NOT installed on your NAS unless you used "hold shift while starting iTunes" to make a new iTunes library there.
Find iTunes. This is usually in \users\<your user>\music\iTunes
Note that if you use Windows explorer, it seems like this would be:
\user\<your user>\My Music\iTunes
But that is NOT correct. The folder is c:\Users\<your user>\music\iTunes
