You can start the twonky daemon with the follow command or simply reboot the MBL:
/etc/init.d/twonky start
Did you enable the twonky service via the web interface?

LMS install instruction
You can find the instruction posted by PaulBC in post #129 of this thread and on http://www.mailinglistarchive.com/ht.../msg00405.html.

Hi thanks for the reply, i had read all of this thread, & had identified what you are quoting as the most recent set of instruction as how to setup, but i cannot successfully modify.
I have edited to set port to 8000 using putty & saved using ":w" i've installed the latest logitechmediaserver, but if I type http://mybooklive.9000 nothing happens I am completely confused?
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

If you're actually typing http://mybooklive.9000, that would be a problem. It should be a colon, not a period before the port. Like this http://mybooklive:9000

Sorry that was an error on my part in my last post, I have been entering http://mybooklive:9000
Unfortunately I cannot get it to load.
Any ideas where I might have gone wrong, how do I get back to square one again to start over, do I have to do a factory reset of the mybook live?
I really want to get this working without a PC, thanks for your help.

Without knowing every change you have made on your NAS, it is hard for anyone to know what the problem might be.
All I can suggest is to re-install the latest firmware for your My Book Live so you can start at square one, and then follow the steps I collected in my previous post.
At step 2, rather than trying to change Twonky's port from 9000 to 8000, disable Twonky to eliminate it as a source of problems. Follow the rest of the steps, and if you get LMS working, then go back and try to change the Twonky port and re-enable it. If LMS stops working after that, you'll know you have a conflict of some sort with Twonky.

Thanks for your continuing help in this matter, I've attempted to reinstall the latest firmware as you suggest, (to start with a clean slate). But the interface only has a "Check for update" option, & "load from file"
If I chose "Check for update" option, I am told I have the latest version, & I cannot reinstall.
I suspect that I should use the "install from file" option, but where do I go to find the correct file source?
Thanks again

On my WD MyBook Live NAS http://mybooklive has stopped working. Instead i need to lookup the gui via the correct ip number, in my cas 192.168.1.20. You might find out about the ip via the gui of your router.
