I installed the squeezebox center on my WD MBL using the instructions on this thread. Everything worked fine but then I unplugged to MBL to relocate it. When I plugged it in again the next morning, the squeezebox center didn;t work anymore! Can someone please explain what happened and what I can do to get it started again and prevent it from happening again? If I need to install a start-up script or something, can u please give the code? I'm not a experienced user so all the help is very welcome!

Have you tried logging in using Putty?

    login: root
password: welc0me [that's a zero, not an oh]

    Enter the LMS start command:

    sudo /etc/init.d/logitechmediaserver start

After powering down my MBL Duo and then plugging it back in, the LMS restarts by itself, no problems.

On a related note, I just did a firmware update on my MBL Duo, which wiped out the LMS installation. I had no problems reinstalling LMS, and everything was running again in less than an hour.

That's why I've hesitated updating firmware. Any must-haves in the update?

My scans seem to work best after selecting "Do not pre-cache artwork" under Settings/Advanced/Performance. Has anyone else experienced this?

Swings and roundabouts , scan gets noticeably faster on slow hardware when skipping this , but then the art has to be scaled and converted when you browse a selection that needs art .

It may save you from scanner crashes if the server is really low on ram and CPU .

    Hi guys,

Maybe someone can help me out. I'm trying to change twonky 7.0.8 special port 9000 to 8000. I need port 9000 for logitech squeezebox server. These post mention "/CacheVolume/twonkymedia/twonkymedia-server.ini" for the ini file. But, strange enough, there is no twonkymedia folder in my /CacheVolume anymore. By the way, Twonky is running on port 9000 without problems.
Does anyone know how to change ports now?

I have twonky 5 and I do see the /CacheVolume/twonkymedia/twonkymedia-server.ini file. You can use the "find" command to look for where the is twonkymedia-server.ini located. But when I install LMS, it assigned a different port number (I think 9001) when 9000 is being used by twonky. After LMS installed, you can change the LMS port number to a different number via the LMS web interface (Settings > Advanced > Network).

    Newbie needing help

Hi I have recently purchased a WD MyBook Live & a Squeezebox Touch.

I am desparately trying to follow instructions here to allow me to setup the MBL to serve my music from Public folder shared music to my squeezebox, without having a PC turned on.

I understand the need for Putty to allow access to edit, & I can successfully login via root welc0me. But I am struggling to carry out all of the instructions here to get things working properly.

Can someone help me out please. I notice that the postings here are a little in the past has this thread moved somewhere else, is there a newer way of doing this now?

I think I am editing the VI ini file correctly to change the port to 8000, I save by using command "zz" but I struggle to get back to an environment which allows me to start twonky server again.

Please can someone spend a bit of time helping me out, I'm usually quite good at doing these types of mods, but this one is getting the better of me.

    Thanks in advance
