Thanks, will have a look at minimserver, i need it to run on boot - i'm not sure it can . Ideally I would really like to use LMS if i can.
Edit: Have had a look and it's quite basic at the moment, also album art is not showing for my Naim application. Playback works better but is limited.
However I would definately prefer to use LMS

Firewall ports
Hi!
I have LMS 7.7.2 - r33893 installed in an Ubuntu server and want to access its music from an Android tablet (ASUS Transformer). The server is behind a firewall, and the following ports are open:
TCP: 2869, 3483, 9000, 9090, 9092
UDP: 1900, 3483
As far as I could get info, TCP 3483, 9000, 9090 and 9092 & UDP 3483 are needed for LMS itself, while TCP 2869 & UDP 1900 are needed for UPnP.
The fact is that if I let the firewall on, the LMS DLNA server does not appear on the tablet. I've also checked with foobar2000 (with foo_upnp plugin) running in an XP machine in the same network and the same happens. I tried deactivating the firewall and then the LMS DLNA server appears and streams music properly (both to the tablet and foobar2000). The funny thing is that if I start playing some songs from a playlist and then start the firewall, the streaming continues, but the server disappears both from the tablet and fb2k. This makes me think that the discovery of DLNA server is using some other port that is being blocked by the firewall. So far, I couldn't find any further information on the topic. Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

Alberto,
You may want to read up on SSDP. SSDP is how UPnP devices/services advertise themselves, and how control points discover other devices on the network. I don't believe that UPnP will work across subnets though... usually it's limited to just the local network. If you're just using the firewall to protect systems on your network, and everything is on the same subnet, then you may need to also allow a multicast address through the firewall as well in order for UPnP/SSDP to function properly.
