How does the IP address binding of the DLNA server work? Does it use any one of --playeraddr --cliaddr --streamaddr --httpaddr, or does it listen on all IP addresses on the server? I don't see a upnp.prefs file, so I assume that it's not configurable.
There was a built-in UPnP client in the server previously, IIRC. And a --noupnp startup option. Does that change at all, or is this plugin both a client and server?
Will it only be serving the same musical content that is scanned and cataloged for Squeezebox players, or is the plan to also catalog video content at some point?

I didn't do anything special for IP binding, so I am not sure.
It is only a server, no client. The other UPnP client is unrelated and frankly needs to be thrown out.
Video and image support is something we are looking at right now.

Search support is a bit hacked on right now, and only works for a few servers. The UPnP search grammar is difficult to implement completely, but I'll take a look at JRMC's needs.

Is there a DLNA client for the iPad that will work with this? I just tried Media Link Player lite but it doesn't see the server. Any firewall settings we ought to make in order for the DLNA server to be visible?

The apps I've tested with are:
Revue (Logitech Media Player)
iOS:
PlugPlayer
MLPlayer Lite
8player lite
Dixim DMC
Android:
Motorola DLNA app
PC/Mac:
Win7 WMP
Cidero
Some of those are just controllers and not players by the way.
Maybe it would be useful for someone to start a wiki page with a compatibility chart. That would be very helpful in getting more clients working.

I managed to get 1 flac to play from the December 16, SBS 7.6 nightly on Win 7, on a Sonos ZP80 using Mark Henkelis's Python Control Point software

Andy, thanks for your work on this.
I briefly tested it with Denon 3808CI and XBMC running on Fedora 14, both with FLAC.
I also played some MP3's on PS3. In all situations I browsed to choose songs.
