    Scrolling problems in 7.6

I'm still seeing major problems with Now Playing screens and scrolling on ip3k players. I'm not certain, but it may only happen on sync'd players. At any given I see one or more of the following problems:

    - not bringing up the Now Playing screen at all

    - Now Playing appearing 30 seconds or more after a track starts

    - track info not being updated when a new track starts playing

    - no scrolling in the Now Playing screen

I saw something similar when connecting a 7.6 firmware boom to mysb.com today. What exact firmware version are you using? And are you sure you're connecting to the latest code SBS? My issue was resolved by connecting to a 7.5.x server (downgrading the firmware) first.

Yes, latest SBS 7.6 from SVN. I've only been using the 7.6 server for day-to-day lately. Squeezebox2 is running fw 135, Transporter running fw 85.

Testing last week (I thought I mentioned it in another thread) the scrolling problems only appeared on the ip3k device that was synced _to_ another, but not on the main SB in the sync group. Also, the problem was not seen on SP based players.

I tend to think firmware versions should have consitent version numbers across server versions... This may mean skipping version numbers but it will be better to make sure the automatic firmware version update process at least knowns when a version is not up to date.

(at present a 7.6 firmware version which does not support player based scrolling will treated by a 7.5 server as if it does and be sent display messages which it will not understand)

Which was the last SB2/3 firmware that only does server-side scrolling?

    Same question for Transporter firmware.

I reverted to SB2/3 firmware 130 and scrolling once again works correctly. Could have been just a problem during sync, but I quickly tired of having no NP information.

Well if you hack the server then current firmware can do server side scrolling... Look for the method $client->hasScrolling in the player classes and set to always return false!

For 7.5, the first firmware used for firmare based scrolling is:
    SB2/Classic: 131
    Transporter: 81
    Boom: 51
