    Newer version on the NSA-310

No i didn't, i reviewed what the changes were in newer versions to see if it was worth the effort however couldnt justify the time and frustration. It did however look as if you could just unzip the linux build file in the correct location. The only issue would be any dependanies required by newer versions.

What i did do is update the firmware directory with the newer controller and receiver firmware which seems to work fine with 7.5.1. I think although it uses version 7.5.1 it is using the latest version of it. Other versions potentially have more functionality, however i have never noticed any difference and i've used 7.5,7.6 & 7.7.

Just was curious. I kind of feel the same.

I got Spotify installed, but it is not running. See my post in Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin. I rather keep that there because Triode is the author of the this plugin.

    plugin install

I had trouble installing the Powersave plugin initially ; i found that copying the plugin files first before enabling it worked, until i did it like this i didnt get to the settings options next to the plugin. Have a look in the server log for errors.

    Custom Browse installed.

I got Custom Browse installed. Seems to be installed (shows in menu and settings). Doesn't work yet as it should. Possibly too heavy load on the Zyxel (I saw a warning about this somewhere). I installed an earlier version (CustomBrowse-2.11.3419, the last 2-11 version), because this doesn't need a paid license yet. First want to try it.

Installation, same way as Spotify, went like a charm.

After a reboot it seems to work; a bit slower as standard menu, but kind of o.k.

    I'll keep you posted.

How to install SC on the NSA 210

H- I just got this Zyxel NAS and am in the process of setting it up and copying my whole iTunes library on it ...
Now I don't see Squeezecenter in the list of apps; do I need to install the software, and if yes can someone tell me how to proceed? Or is it pre-installed already, in which case I assume some updates are necessary?
    thank you for your help
will share my user experience when I have one!
    derek

I have a Zyxel 310. There you have to install and enable SqueezeCenter under the Applications/Packages entry of the Zyxel control panel. Afterwards you have to configure Squeeze\center under its own control panel.

    I hope this helps.

I just got a 210. Although it seems a little clunky, I mostly like the software. NOTE: install (set up of the NAS itself) didn't work from a Mac - claims bad firmware... interesting.) Set up from a windows machine, worked fine. Notably, I then added a volume to create storage - I presume that is a necessary step, but it wasn't listed in the manual.

Now - on to SqueezeCenter - I installed it from the packages, and it's enabled. I've disabled all the "media center" shares as best practice according to the first post in this thread.

The web gui for scqueezebox server now indicates that the music location is not editable through the SB GUI, instead:

"Please go to the page of Media Server to modify this setting. "

I have a couple test albums on the NAS volume I created, but they aren't getting picked up in the SB server scan. How do see and edit where the music is stored (according to the SB server)?

Does SB expect a certain volume name?

Ideally without telnetting, as it's a bit outside my comfort zone. I will if it's the only way, though.

EDIT: I am starting from scratch and choosing "default setup" to grab the default volume creation and name. Hopefully that was the issue.

UPDATE: Yup, not surprisingly, creating my own volume name combined with the disabling in the SB Server to change the location was a bad combo. I'll update with impressions if I stick with it. It's picking up my test albums now.

I have my music in the predefined music shares. I also disabled the media server. You can just copy the music there over the network.

    It works fine with me.

Yes, the default volume name appears to be essential: I believe it defaults to Volume1.

With the additional media server running, it's pretty painful, even with just a couple albums. I have turned it off, and will load it up with a full library. I'm skeptical the speed will be acceptable, based on the early tests.

Thanks for the encouragement and help though!

Not looking good for a 400gb library. Took a couple of days to get the music copied over, and another 24 hours or more to do the first scan - only to have it error on the various artists merge process.

Not sure what its current state is - it's taking several minutes to show the artists page via the web interface. Not going to fly, I don't think.
