Hello,
Can someone tell me where the apps that you install actually get installed to, is it the squeezebox device or the actual server?
I'm planning on buying the Squeezebox touch but won't be using a pc, I'll be using my Synology NAS (which has a squeezebox package) and wondered whether any of these apps would work.
Thanks, I couldn't really find anything useful at the logitech/squeezebox website.

Thanks, that's, erm, slightly confusing

So applets install on the device and apps/plugins run on the server. All the things I saw on the squeezebox site (like last.fm player, etc) were apps, which I guess means may not work.
Guess I'd better check if the synology squeezebox server is compatible with these apps/plugins.

Apps are installed on the free MySqueezeBox.com server online, no computer needed.
Plugins are installed on SBS server running on your computer.
If you want access to your local music you need to run SBS server on your computer. Both Plugins & Apps are usable if using the SBS server.
If all you want is Internet Radio and Music Services then you only need to connect your player online to MySqueezeBox.com. No Plugins can be used, no access to your local music.
Last.fm can be run as either a Plugin or an App.

Thanks.
I guess I'd better go to the Synology forum to see what does and doesn't work on the NAS with a Squeezebox, assuming there are people there with one.

There is an entire Third Party Hardware forum right here that covers NAS devices.

...and there are a lot of Synology users who frequent that forum.
Note that the CPU used in the NAS is also a big factor on which plugins will work and which will not, and that different Synology models have different CPUs. So there is no universal answer re SBS plugins and Synology compatibility -- it depends on the plugin's requirements and the Synology's particular hardware.
