    Neil Young, Le Noise

I bought this album on a whim and am really enjoying it.
Produced and mixed by Daniel Lanois (hence the name).
It is a solo album by Young with no band, but Lanois does a superb job of the mixing.

There is another thread here about best guitarists. Now, I may be rather shallow, but this album is how I like to hear guitars.

Hint: crank up the volume before pressing play. :-)

Good album, reminds me of his early stuff. I've always liked Neil on guitar. He has a style all his own. Both acoustic and electric.
If the rule you followed brought you to this, of what use is the rule.

It's a really interesting recording; I heard Lanois and Young being interviewed about the "making of", and it seems that Danny really had his way with the music. There are frequent occurrences of sound fragments being reused repeatedly. Neil had no difficulty with this at all, and is obviously very happy with the outcome. Just tons of electronic manipulation, but still basically a guitar/voice recording.

    Thumbs up for this one.
Have to give Neil Young credit for never letting his work get boring.
Now for another Crazy Horse album

Well I very much enjoy Neil Young lyrics, just have never been able to get with the distortion box he frequently uses which makes for real noise in this Le Noise album. I strive to have distortion free equipment, and he records super distortion which it flawlessly reproduced for my enjoyment??

I guess you were never a Hendrix fan. . .

I've enjoyed a good bout of distortion, flawlessly reproduced, since the excesses of the 60s and early 70s. It's part of the music, just another way of putting sounds together to good effect.

Agreed, preferably while watching the movie though, the two need to be experienced concurrently :-)

Worth putting this one and Lanois' Black Dub in a playlist and randomizing. Work really well together when played loud.
