In an effort to reduce load on MySB, we are temporarily tweaking some text scrolling parameters.
As of today, we have increased the delay after each completed scroll by a factor of 3. There may be other changes in the future but I'll mention them here if so.
This is only temporary, early next year we'll push out a firmware update for all players that will bring improved scrolling performance and a much smoother scrolling appearance.

Thanks for the info. I use a local SBS but I'm glad to see continued support and improvements for "obsolete" products.

This didn't help as much as we had hoped, so we've now changed the scrolling mode to "Scroll once and stop" for players who have the default value of "Standard scrolling".

I wondered why this was happening. I had noticed it on both my players the last few days and wondered what had changed. Hope this gets corrected soon as "Scroll once and stop" just isn't sufficient unless one is sitting and watching the display.

I am unfamiliar with "SBS". Can someone explain? Thanks!Last edited by oldcrooner; 2010-11-14 at 13:45.

SBS = SqueezeBox Server, the server program for SqueezeBox devices running on a computer
MySB = MySqueezeBox.com, online Logitech server (no computer needed)

Let me throw in a couple of links for good measure.

Aha! I wondered too, why this was happening.
I thought perhaps when you said "for players who have the default value of Standard scrolling", maybe there was an alternative value for Scrolling....
...I see (from my attachment) there isn't. I assume we just need to wait for MySB.com upgrade and/or firmware upgrade?
Any forecasts when? (I wouldn't hold you to them!)

Edit: PS: Surely this is an example where, although the SB clients are "slim", a LITTLE intelligence in the client could be sensibly used to scroll locally? ...thereby saving on both bandwidth usage and MySB.com processing load?Last edited by mooblie; 2010-12-04 at 09:36.

??? Your screen cap shows the three possible settings: Standard scrolling (continuous), scroll just once and then stop, and don't scroll at all.
New firmware should be released whenever 7.5.2 is released. I think Andy said previously early next year, or something to that effect. You can get updated firmware now if you move to using the 7.6.0 beta software.I assume we just need to wait for MySB.com upgrade and/or firmware upgrade?

Thanks, Miles. I realised that, but what I wondered was whether MySB.com had maybe unilaterally changed all clients' settings to "Scroll once and stop" and users who knew about this could put it back to "Standard scrolling". In fact, they changed the behaviour of "Standard scrolling".
May I ask: Is the Standard scrolling (or even:... "Smooth scrolling"?!) re-enabled, if I update to 7.6's firmware (given that I use MySB.com all the time?)

Don't bother installing 7.6 the. Doing that will prompt you to update the firmware, then when you connect back to Mysb.com you ill again be prompted to "update" the firmware to the previous version which is actually a downgrade for you. For te legacy players, MySB.com has to have the same firmware version as the current newest release of SBS to save the continuous upgrade cycle when switching between servers as many people do. With SqueezeOS devices, new firmwaes ca be pushed out regardless of the server they are connected to.
