    File trouble?

    Hi there,
I have a SB3 wired with the 7.4.2 firmware, lately the SB server won't scan anything from my music folder. Could the file be out of date, I note there is a 7.5 version could someone point me to a reliable source?
    Many thanks,
    Tim.

An old version of SBS should not cause this kind of problem. It must be something else. Anyway, you can always get the current release, and all past releases, of the server software at http://downloads.slimdevices.com/. The current official release is 7.5.1, though you may be better off with 7.5.2.

    Thankyou my friend,
Its strange why this is happening, never had any trouble scanning before. I go through the same procedure and SC says it is scanning but it just hangs, and when I abort there is nothing.
    Cheers again,
    Tim.

You should check server.log and scanner.log to see if they provide clues on what is going wrong. Have you made any changes to your system, or files, etc.?

In the server log it says 'initiating scan' then 'no tracks in database' over and over. I suppose thats how many times I tried.
    Thanks,
    Tim.

    Question

    Which operating system?
Is settings - My Music pointing to the correct drive/folder?
You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...

Oh, well geez yeah, that is certainly useful information. I think that's a much more likely source of the problem than running a slightly out of date SBS.

Still no joy, been at it for hours, my friend who usually sorts out any PC problems for me, is scratching his head. The SC just won't scan the music folder, strange it will find an album in a folder, but not the whole music collection. Updated to 7.5.1 but like you said, makes no difference.
    Cheers,
    Tim.

So you can use "browse music folder" and see your music?
