As a matter of interest, I first heard Ms Arvantitaki on a jukebox in a bar in Crete a couple of years ago. I liked what I heard back then, but had quite forgotten about her until your mention. Amazing how songs bring back memories...Touch + my hifi

I was reading Murakami's 1Q84 (recommended for fans of bizarre magic realism) and one of the characters references this recording, and in particular clarinetist Barney Bigard's solo in Atlanta Blues -- had to buy the record.
Well worth it, classic early century blues, recoreded with good sound in 1954. Excellent. But the Barney Bigard solo in that song lasts all of 20 seconds (as the book itself makes clear).
