Wow...thanks for the Abigail Washburn recommendation---love it. I hadn't heard of her before this. That's one of the more original pieces of work I've heard in a while. I thought "Bring me my Queen" was an absolultely brilliant track.

I also listened to Sparrow, but vastly preferred this one.

Cheers! Having some Dornfelder wine here... Rain Dogs is one of my all-time favorites! I hope you listen the original Island release and not that dead-mastered SHM version

Aha, no answer... So i suppose you listened these 3 SHM releases and thought it is something special!?

Besides all that stuff your signature lists you may learn about sound here.

With these 3 Universal SHM versions you can study what bad remastering does in real life.
It sounds like pushed thru some DSP effects and a Loudness Maximizer with bubble bass.
It simply sucks the live out of the music, a real drama. On these you can make you some fun and lower the volume of the "Remaster" by the dB value RG detects.
Levelmatched to the old release it is easy to spot what is missing (on a good system)

The older Tom Waits Warner "WPCR" remasters are a completely different story. They sound loud indeed but beautiful!
This japanese Kikuchi must have put some nice effort, experience and heart in getting a clean sparkling sound out of these classics, impresssive!
