Mickey mentioned a part # in post #44. But he said that he couldn't find it on the internet. Googling for the part # (GGEC 03904) only brings you back to this thread. As it was a custom-made part, it's highly unlikely anyone would be able to order a pair, or even several pair.

Sorry, yes, he did give a part number. Be nice if you could order replacements from Logitech.

Kind of fixed
OK folks, my Boom is functioning again kind of properly. No more bass distortion but the sound slightly affected though, yet still very much audible and enjoyable.
I was busy so directed and gave the project to my 17 years old son :-). We used super glue and accelerator to glue the speaker's soft plastic to the hard case. Start by applying the glue with a pin while lifting the plastic in place, trying to apply it to both surfaces. Do that over an inch or less, then dip a pin into the accelerator and apply it to the glue to make it harden. And keep repeating - it's a bit tedious but wort it. Don't try without accelerator as the glue won't dry (no way to apply any pressure). Google "ca accelerator" if you've never used this great product - you can even find recipes to make it at home!
It does not look super pretty but works! Give it a try rather than trashing it :-)

Did you modify the bezel at all? Because if it's the bezel cutting the surrounds, then those are just going to be cut again soon after you remount them.

I had intended to do it, but in the excitement forgot... I will avoid playing it too loud for now - and may reopen the case to do it someday

I'm thinking that the drivers (speakers) in the Boom come from this China based firm though this link is to their California (Sales) office (presumably).....http://www.ggec.com/drivers.php
I have not tried to contact them, nor do I know if they'd be willing to deal with owners of Booms with speakers that are separating. Not sure if they could refer us to a stocking distributor or retailer, especially since Mickey said the drivers were custom designed for the Boom. But who knows. Maybe they have boxes of them on the shelves somewhere that they'd like to unload....Last edited by eganders; 2011-11-13 at 16:27.

Because they have the same name "GGEC" which MickeyG, who works for Logitech, said was part of the custom part number. On the GGEC website they also talk at some length about their ability to create custom speaker drivers, which is what Logitech says they created for the Boom, and further that they have a history as an OEM manufacturer of such. The GGEC Chinese website (as translated by translate.google.com) discusses the same thing, though the site is different, and not just a translation of the English language site.
I think it's a reasonable thought, but I have no inside info.Last edited by eganders; 2011-11-14 at 13:08.

If anyone has (now or in the past) removed their speakers from the Boom and has the exact model/pn # for it, how about emailing this info to GGEC, see what they say?
Maybe they stock them (doubtful if these were exclusive to the Boom)? Maybe they have a similar (close enuff, better than nothing) replacement?
