    No connection??

    Hello all,

Since two months I have the Touch and I am very happy with its sound. I already had the Duet so I use its Controller to start and stop the Touch and to control volume. That worked 'out of the box' without any problem(!) until yesterday evening!! I switched on everything as usual, but the item 'my music' did not appear on the screen of the Controller nor on the Touch. So I was not able to start music, also not from the Squeezebox Server (7.5.1) on the PC (grey fields).

The only strange thing detected so far was an unknown device in our router, maybe an intruder (?). After deleting it nothing changed, no effects from resets also. In the router the Touch, the Controller and the PC are known and active. Their IP addresses are fixed.

More information (partly translated from Dutch):
After Search on the Controller I get "connecting to mysqueezebox.com". A little later: "Problem with connecting. This player is already linked to another SqueezeNetwork account". Then if I click return: "Probleem with connecting. Cannot make connection with mysqueezebox.com. Check Squeezebox Server and connections". So I did but found nothing wrong as far as I can tell.

On my Linux PC at www.mysqueezebox.com/player/viewPlayers I see: "Squeezebox Touch, Status connected via 86.92.21.76"

But at http:\\127.0.0.1:9000 it says under player: "Your player was not found" and at Basic Settings "Music Folder /home/eddie" (correct).

In the Squeezebox Server I read under Player: "This player is currently connected to mysqueezebox.com. Do you want to switch it to this Squeezebox Server?". Clicking yes does not work, it stays connected to mysqueezebox.com. The other item in the menu-list is Squeezebox Touch, but it cannot be selected.

On the controller at Diagnostic data a.o.:
    Firmware 7.5.1 r8885
    ...
    IP-adres 192.168.1.72 (correct)
    IP-gateway en DNS-server 192.168.1.254 (correct)
    mysqueezebox.com 89.202.121.131
    Ping OK
    TCP-poort 3483 and 9000 OK
    Registration: registered
    Squeezebox Server Not connected
Name of music collection Not connected
    ....
    Current music system Squeezebox Touch

So I have no idea what went wrong nor how to get it working again. Any suggestions?

    Kind regards,
    Eddie

have you opened the correct ports in the firewall on the machine running squeezeboxserver ?

    3483 udp and tcp 9000 tcp .

I thought I had them see this bug open once but not really, see this bug report:

http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=16057 (bugzilla is broken today soo follow this link later)

I had the ports open only for direct conection bto the server ip, it was not listening to broadcast !! the player is signalling it's presence via broadcast at 3483 udp .

But there is a workaround .

On for example the Touch or controller settings > advanced > Networking > Remote libraries . here you put in the ip adress of the server you want to connect, it does not have to be remote it does help people conecting via internet or thoose with complicated networks with multiple subnets or similar.

If you can't connect this way I'm 99% sure that the server is blocking the conection for some reason.

    Hello Mnyb,

Thanks, I will check my firewall but I think it is not even switched on. I will also try to use your workaround.

    unregister old SBR?

I just received an email from the guy that bought my old Squeezebox Receiver, he got this message: 'This SBR has been registered to another user...if you bought it second hand, please contact the seller...'
It seems that I should unregister but I do not know where and how.

In mysqueezebox.com I see only the Squeezebox Touch with its correct MAC-address, nothing of the old receiver. So nothing to unregister I would say.

Can this have anything to do with the message that I receive when I switch on my Controller: 'This player is already linked to another SqueezeNetwork account'?

    More suggestions?

    RE: unregistering a player

This probably refers to your account at mysqueezebox.com.

Go to that web site and log in. Click on the "Players" tab and then choose the appropriate player. That's where you unregister it.

If still registered to you, it would show up in your mysb.com account. Have you asked the buyer to do a factory reset of the receiver? Maybe that is required to clear out your old credentials from memory? Not really sure though.

So, let me see if I understand this:
    - your Receiver was registered to your MySB account
    - you sold that Receiver
    - you never deleted (unregistered) your sold Receiver from your MySB account
    - you log into the same MySB account you were using with your sold Receiver
    - but Receiver is not listed?

Unregistering a player from a MySB account is simply selecting DELETE PLAYER from the www.MySqueezeBox.com web UI
MySB > Players > Receiver > Delete Player

If using the above MySB web UI login and delete procedure does solve the "your player is registered to another account", then you must contact support and have them delete the player. You should provide to support the player make, model, and MAC address.

    Hello Garym,

The sold SBR does not show up in mysqueezebox.com, but the complication is that my Squeezebox Receiver ran with Squeezebox Server 7.4.3. In order to use my new Squeezebox Touch I needed to fully uninstall it and then install 7.5.1. So I did, but I did not unregister the old Squeezebox Receiver. Could this be causing the trouble that I get now?

While writing this I see the message of toby10 coming in. It appears to me that I need to contact support to delete the old SBR from my account.

the version you were running shouldn't matter. But easiest thing at this point is for the new owner to contact support via phone, and he should have the MAC address of the receiver with him. They should be able to unconnect it from your account easily enough.

    Smile re-install software works!

    Hallo Garym,

Thanks, I will ask for the uninstall.

Yesterday evening I was checking my Controller again to see if I might have missed something. I came across the option Install new release. I already had the latest but I reinstalled nevertheless just to check if this would work. Well, it worked and on top of that my music directory showed up and I could start my music on the Touch!

No idea why, but everything works again. I checked this morning and it still seems to be OK. I saw a remark once, I think on this forum, that the Controller software is not very reliable. Is that a general idea?
