    Question Touch semi-bricked?

My Touch won't respond to IR remote or the Touch screen. I can SSH in via Putty and the WEB UI of SBS works perfectly.
The rest button on the back will do a reboot for short press, but the long press for system reset doesn't work.

    Has anyone else seen this?
(I'm on 7.6 31209 with firmware 8837 - I can't update to the latest firmware because I cannot initiate the update via remote or screen!)

You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...

My radio did a similar stunt but fixed itself after several restarts ?
Try pulling the plug and restart a couple of times ?

Thanks, I've tried that... no luck so far.
Seems odd that both IR and Touchscreen don't function but everything else is fine...

    Unhappy

Great as i does not respond to ir or touch factory reset is also not an option, and install from SD card is also out.

maybe there is a way to reset to factory via ssh ? but i think a dev have tell you how, or run the fw install from ssh.

Exactly - all the normal tricks won't work...

    Exclamation Still bricked...

Does anyone know if a factory reset is likely to fix my non-functional IR & Touchscreen?... and if it is even possible to do a factory reset from SSH or the command line interface as these seem to be the only means I have of accessing the Touch!

Press and hold the reset button should do a factory reset too.

I've tried that - it doesn't work (it used to!). The factory reset doesn't initiate. Odd...

Early on in the Beta mine bricked very similar to this. Richard walked me through using SSH to take the Touch all the way back to Red Boot so we could make it load new firmware off an SDHC card. I'll look through my saved files to see if I made a post copy of the Campfire Chat with the instructions.

So what I am saying is there is a possibility to get the Touch back if it will except the SSH commands needed to get to a point to load firmware off an SD card.

I know you can send a Reboot/Reset command through SSH. Is this for the Linux CPU or the Touch itself? If its for the Touch, it stands to reason that one could send a FacReset. But if its just rebooting the CPU, then I don't think Factory Reset can be sent by SSH.

    Cheers!

Some progress... the IR Remote still doesn't work at all (but it works fine on my Boon and Radio). However, I do seem to have some touchscreen access, but it's tempremental. I'm going to try and get it to do a factory reset...
