    Problem with latest nightly 28/08

    Hi all,

I just installed the latest nightly with firmware 34, the upgrade went fine but
since the upgrade I am not getting any sound from the digital output (I am
using the toslink output). My Benchmark DAC1 shows an error: "Non PCM" which
according to the benchmark manual indicates a signal that cannot be decoded...

Note that the SB analog output is working.

Am I the only one? I did not try to revert to 33 yet.

    Cheers,
    Michel

    Problem with latest nightly 28/08

    Hi,

I just reverted back to 24/08 with Firmware 33 and the digital output is
working again... there is definitely something wrong with the lastest nightly
(I use a wireless non graphic SB and the server is running on Win XP Pro SP2).

    Cheers,
    Michel

On OS X the optical digital output seems to be working fine BUT ...
    .... the L& R channels were initially reversed :-O

A couple of soft resets & a couple of hard resets later
the channels were back to being the right way round BUT ...
.... a couple more and they were reversed again :-O

Looks like that bug is back :-(

AND while I have been typing this & doing the resets, the digital output
seems to have glitched a couple of times when starting up after a reset,
I had to cycle through Play, Stop, Play a few times
before my Genesis Digital Lens would lock stably ...

[BTW the good news is that the Digital Lens is currently
registering a clock rate error from the Squeezebox of 0 pmm!
It has been registering 18 ppm since about Version 9 or 10 of the firmware ...]

I should perhaps say that 18 ppm is a good number
(even my Musical Fidelity TriVista SACD & ARCAM DV-27A register 13 & 14 ppm) ...

Although the more I listen to the system
(it seems a little 'harsh' after installing the 2004-08-28 nightly)
the 0 ppm could simply mean that the error is currently off the scale :-O

    ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!

After doing a few more soft & hard resets ...

.... I have finally got the L & R channels back the correct way round,
the clock-rate error is back to 18 ppm,
and the system is back to sounding its smooth self :-)

    Problem with latest nightly 28/08

    Hi,

I just tried again: deinstall previous version (24/8 FW33) of slimserver,
reboot the PC (XP SP2), install 28/8 and FW34, same symptoms... my external DAC
(Benchmark DAC1) shows an error (Non PCM). Roll back to 24/8 still with FW34,
still the same problem, roll back to FW33 and the DAC starts working again.

Note that I don't have the Graphic upgrade on my SB (yet).

    Michel
