Couldn't resolve IP address for: www.mysqueezebox.com

I have been instructed to send the following question to the linux part of the forum in stead of the server part in which I initially forwarded the question

I just upgrade to version 7.5.1 on my fedora 10 system

When I try to define MySqueezenetwork Account it responds wrong username or password and the result in the log file is the following

[10-07-26 01:06:45.9365] Slim::Networking::SqueezeNetwork::_error (471) Unable to login to SN: Couldn't resolve IP address for: www.mysqueezebox.com

However when I type in www.mysqueezebox.com in a firefox browser on the same computer it finds the address without any problem. Also ping form a terminal to that address works. How can I troubleshoot this problem?

    All the best,
    CaB

    Try a restart of squeezeboxserver

    Hi,

In the past, there has been a problem with the squeezeboxserver service starting before the network services on linux/fedora at boot. When that happens squeezeboxserver can't successfully perform DNS lookups and fails to connect to the Internet. Other linux commands, e.g. ping, are invoked after the network is "up," and thus work correctly.

A quick way to see if there is a DNS/network issue is to try a command line "service squeezeboxserver restart" Then see if squeezeboxserver connects to the Internet/mysqueezeboxserver.

If this works, a more permanent solution/workaround is to delay the startup of squeezeboxserver until after the network is up.

    Good Luck!

Is it possible to manually add the information for mysqueezebox.com

    A restart did not help.
Is it possible to manually add the mysqueezebox information to a server config file? The players can connect to the mysqueezebox after a factory restart but as soon as they have had contact to the server they can not go back to the mysqueezebox since no such information is available in the server. Thus if I could just manually add that information it might be a workaround.

    All the best,
    Carsten

Not a restart of the machine. Just a restart of SBS.

    Manual config of server

I did a restart of SBS but it did not help.

Do any one know how to manually config the information for mysqueezebox in the server config files?

    All the best,
    Carsten

The settings cannot be easily manually configured. You need to find out what is going wrong.

Try getting some debug logs on the DNS setup of SBS by doing the following.

    1. in WebUI Settings/Advanced/Logging
    a. check the box "Save logging settings for use at next application restart"
    b. Set network.asyncDNS to DEBUG
    c. Click Apply at bottom right.

    2. Note time and wait about 30 secs.
    3. Restart SBS
    4. Try to set up the mysqueezenetwork account. This will make sure error messages are added to log file.
    5. Look at server log file (Use Webui Settings/Advanced/Logging) and copy all entries into a text file from noted time until end of log. Attach the text file onto a post - zip file if necessary.

    Version 7.3 is ok

I have tried downgrading version 7.3.2-1 is working as expected (it accepts the mysquezeebox account) but version 7.4.1-1 and 7.5.1-1 is not accepting the account? Do I have to stick to version 7.3? Is it related to version 7.3 is a squezeeboxcenter and the others squezeeboxserver???

    Carsten

    Requested information

Sorry bpa I did not notice your reply before my last message.
The part of the server.log after the restart of SBS is attached to this message.

    Looks like this bug http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=13237

You could add your experience but getting the logs would have helped.

    Needed log files

Sorry I am not that experinced. What log files are needed for you and where can I locate the relevant log files? I do hope that you were able to see the attached server.log file?

    All the best,
    CaB
