thanks for the report!

From my analysis (which might be wrong though) the bug was introduced in 7.5.4, revision31961, so any version number below that (like yours) should still work.

I opened a bug-report now (http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=17030) so you might vote on it to see the progress!

Really? I had all the symptoms already with 7.5.4 r31961, which I installed 1 March and almost immediately replaced with the previous release (r31939). I have not even downloaded r31977 or any revision after 1 March.

Oh well, just be careful with all new revisions after r31939.

I'm not sure yet, whether I want to have it look like buttons. It will be easier to know that these icons can be pressed at all of course!
But I'm not sure yet, whether it will still look as good. I'll be thinking about it.

You seem to have a good hand at elegant and clean design, so I'm sure you can come up with a nice-looking set of buttons and slider.

the latest 7.6 and 7.5 versions changed the way menus are handled in the last couple of days.
So right now the menus don't work at all with a nightly version of the server.

Guess some of you already read it on the iPeng-thread.
The latest nightlies for 7.5 and 7.6 fix the bug introduced in the server last week. So all menus are working again in SqueezePad

I did a clean installation of 7.6 r32064 today and now SqueezePad will not connect to SqueezeboxServer. I just get the big yellow box with the message "Connecting to SqueezeboxServer...". Nothing else happens. It never does connect.

I did see this as well yesterday (with 7.5.4 beta), after some time it was gone and I didn't know why.
Now I installed 7.6 again and am seeing this connection screen as well.
After playing around with my system for quite some time I now found a solution:

The only way I can get rid of this connection screen, is to go to the settings-screen of Squeezebox-Server -> Advanced -> Logging.
Then turning on Debug-Log on channel 'network.cometd'.

This is really strange and I think there is still some mess left in Squeezebox-Server in the core communication code. Won't have much time today to dig again in all the changes that were done in 7.6 in the last couple of days.

7.6 right now doesn't seem to be in good shape to run with SqueezePad.
7.5.3 works marvellous and should be preferred if one wants stable operations.

Yes, the current scheme is quite superior to the old one!

Perhaps all you would need to do is to use the same design as in the "setting" button at the lower right, maybe slightly larger and with the speaker icons in white. That would maintain consistency of shapes and work well to present a target for one's fingers as well as communicate to new users that the speaker icons are in fact "tappable."
